I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the conduct of the store manager, Joanna, at your Weekend Max Mara Marylebone High Street location.
I have been a loyal customer of your brand for several years, and until recently, my experiences have always been positive. However, I have now had multiple concerning interactions with Joanna that I feel must be addressed.
The first incident occurred following an in-store event, where I was assisted by a former employee, Sole, whose service was exceptional. During that visit, I purchased a crossbody bag. Upon returning home, I noticed that one of the screws on the bag was loose. When I returned to the store to request an exchange, Sole was not present, and I was instead assisted by Joanna.
Rather than offering a replacement or return, Joanna attempted to fix the issue herself using what appeared to be a kitchen knife. She insisted the bag was “repaired” and did not initially offer me the option of returning or exchanging it. When I raised a reasonable concern—that the screw might loosen again and the bag could be damaged or lost—her attitude changed noticeably. She appeared irritated, handled the situation abruptly, and instructed another employee to process a return in a dismissive manner before walking away.
Although I chose to overlook this incident at the time, a second experience on Saturday, 18 April 2026, was equally disappointing.
During this visit, I was assisted by Isabella, who was professional, attentive, and helpful throughout my shopping experience. However, while I was waiting for my items to be packaged at the checkout, Joanna intervened and began repeatedly checking the products multiple times. When I asked about this, Isabella explained that she had been instructed to do so, mentioning that there were ten items and that she needed to double-check them.
It was very clear that Isabella was under significant pressure. Her demeanor changed noticeably—she no longer appeared as confident and composed as she had been earlier while assisting me. Joanna’s tone of voice was also extremely loud and harsh, to the point that it felt more like shouting than speaking, and could easily be heard from outside the store. This created a very uncomfortable and tense atmosphere.
Additionally, I had left a pair of jeans for tailoring, as they were too long. Given that I had a very busy schedule the following week, I politely asked whether the item could be delivered to my home once the alterations were completed. Joanna’s response was a firm and immediate refusal. However, from Isabella’s reaction and expression, it seemed that such an option might have been possible. Due to the visible pressure placed on Isabella, I chose not to insist further, as I felt it might create additional difficulty for her.
As a customer, I found this overall behavior inappropriate and unprofessional. It not only negatively affected my experience, but also appeared to undermine and intimidate a staff member who had otherwise provided excellent service.

I believe that such conduct falls well below the standards expected from a managerial position, particularly within a brand that prides itself on customer care and professionalism.
I would appreciate it if you could investigate this matter and take appropriate steps to ensure a respectful and professional environment for both customers and staff.

As I can see are a lot of negative reviews ,in regards of the conduct of people working there and I can tell you from my own experience,all the personal except Joanna are lovely .
I’ve had a consistently fantastic experience with Max Mara Weekend over the years. The collections are elegant, stylish, and beautifully made, with quality that truly stands the test of time. What really sets this brand apart, however, is the exceptional customer service.
A special mention to Joanna, the manager at the Marylebone store, who is incredibly professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. I recently returned with a skirt due to a minor malfunction, and the team repaired it free of charge, returning it in even better condition than before.
This level of craftsmanship and aftercare is rare and deeply appreciated. A brand that truly values its customers - highly recommended!!!
