Would give it a minus score if possible. Extremely poor customer service and an appalling customer experience The customer service here is extremely disappointing. The checkout staff often appear miserable and unwelcoming, but our experience when trying to return a lunchbox was by far the worst we have ever encountered. We bought a lunchbox just a couple of days earlier. Before using it, we noticed that the label stated it was not microwave-safe, so we decided to return it. The staff member accused us of keeping the smaller lunchbox from a nested set and trying to return only the larger one for a refund. We explained that we had bought it only a couple of days ago and that it was a single lunchbox. Rather than explaining her concern politely, she rudely asked us to wait while she asked a staff to check CCTV and the shelves, leaving us waiting for around 15 minutes. I understand that stores need to investigate potentially suspicious returns, and I have no objection to reasonable checks if this had happened before in their store. However, there is a huge difference between carrying out a check professionally and accusing customers being dishonest. She could have explained the situation calmly and respectfully and asked us to bear with her while she checked. Instead, the entire process was accusatory and humiliating. Even after the checks were completed, the staff member continued to be impatient and unhelpful while processing the refund. We couldn’t remember which bank card we had used for the original purchase, so we asked whether we would be unable to receive a refund if we presented the wrong card. Rather than explaining the process or helping us work out what to do, she repeatedly insisted, in a rude and impatient manner, that we had to provide the card we had paid with. Her attitude made an already unpleasant experience even worse. What made the whole situation particularly upsetting was that our eight-year-old son was standing there throughout the incident. It was deeply uncomfortable to have our honesty questioned in front of our child over an ordinary product return. We were in a rush to attend a play, so we did not have time to raise the matter with the store manager. However, the experience was upsetting and left us outraged. I understand that stores need procedures to prevent fraudulent returns, but customers deserve to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. A little politeness, clear communication and willingness to help would have made all the difference. Based on this experience, we will not be returning.
