Unfortunately, this store does not appear to follow company policy regarding staff members wearing name badges. Without a name badge, customers are unable to identify individual members of staff when providing either positive or negative feedback, making it difficult to hold anyone accountable for their actions.
When I asked for a staff member’s name, I was initially told that it could not be provided due to GDPR. However, GDPR does not automatically prevent a store from providing an employee’s first name. Once I explained this to the staff member, who turned out to be a manager, she changed her story and said that she was unable to provide a name due to her training. She was not wearing a name badge but did provide her name as Isha after asking repeatedly for five minutes.
I subsequently contacted Head Office, who agreed that GDPR was not the reason for withholding the name, although they were unable to confirm the company’s policy regarding staff members wearing name badges.
Ultimately, if staff members were wearing their required name badges in the first place, there would be no need for customers to ask for their names. This would also make it much easier to provide accurate feedback, whether positive or negative, about individual members of staff.

The store is really big and has many great items. One of the best I’ve found is juicy couture bag that originally costed 180, and here is for 39. It’s amazing!!!

I had an absolutely horrible experience at TK Maxx in Westfield London.
My 4-year-old daughter chose a dress priced at £16 and was so excited about it. After I finished my shopping, I went to pay and was told that the dress could not be sold because it was damaged and had “zero value”.
I explained that I was happy to pay the full £16. I wasn’t asking for a discount or asking them to give me anything for free. I just wanted to buy the dress my little girl had chosen.
My daughter started crying and getting very upset, but they still refused.
I asked to speak to the manager. She did come and speak to me, but her attitude was unbelievably cold and dismissive. There was absolutely no empathy or understanding, even though she could clearly see that my 4-year-old daughter was crying.
I explained again that I was willing to pay the full £16, but she simply refused to sell it. Then, after speaking to me in such a cold manner, she took the dress and WALKED AWAY, leaving me standing there.
Honestly, I was shocked.
I understand that a damaged item may not be allowed to be sold. Fine. But there is absolutely no excuse for treating a customer like this, especially when a small child is standing there crying.
Customer service is about how you treat people when there is a problem. Unfortunately, the manager showed absolutely no compassion, no flexibility and no basic understanding of how upsetting the situation was for my daughter.
It wasn’t about the £16. It was about how we were treated.
My little girl was excited about her dress and ended up crying, while the manager simply walked away as if we were a nuisance.
This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I left the store feeling angry, disappointed and completely disrespected.
TK Maxx really needs to look seriously at the attitude and customer service in this store. A manager should know how to deal with customers respectfully, even when the answer is “no”.
I will definitely be thinking twice before shopping at this store again.
Absolutely disgraceful experience.
