Today I went into the New Look shop with my two friends to get jewelry because I needed a new belly bar and my friend got some earrings. We grab our jewelry and walk about because we saw some nice clothes and had a look, we had our jewelry in our hand and I was trying to see under the paper of the belly bar packaging to check if the size was going to fit me. This worker comes over to me and my friends and goes to me “Do you want me to put that back on the shelf for you” and I’m like oh no I’m okay i’m going to buy it thank you though. She then proceeds to ask my friend if she wants her to put it back on the shelf my friend says the same thing and then she goes back to me and says “Are you sure you don’t want me to put it back on the shelf for you” I say no I was just wondering what size it was because i do not know if it will fit my piercing. she then says to me in a passive aggressive tone “It’s a belly button piercing, it doesn’t have sizes hen” I say oh okay, even though they do have sizes and anyone who has a belly piercing would know that. And I know this isn’t the biggest deal ever but if your working in customer service there’s no need to be rude to teenagers. She obviously thought we were shoplifting because then she proceeds to follow us everywhere we go from a distance, then we go to the till and she is standing there and every time we look in her direction she pretends to be folding clothes. While we were in the line waiting to pay for our items she then goes to another worker obviously not thinking we were buying the things and that we had left she goes “They’ve left empty handed” And I know that shoplifting is a big thing going in teenagers but it’s just rude to assume. I will describe her because I hope that she does get spoke to. Black hair older lady hair in a bun and glasses. Probably will be avoiding this shop as this was not very kind to say, although the different woman at the till was lovely.

This afternoon me and 2 of my friends went into New Look at Fort Kinnaird, i picked up a set of 2 earrings and my friend grabbed a belly button bar as she needed a new one, We were just walking around the shop having a look at the new collection of clothes when a worker went upto my friend and offered to put the belly button bar back on the shelf for her, my friend told her she was going to buy it she was just double checking the back of the packaging to see if it was going to fit her but she thanked the employee for offering anyway. The worker then snapped back at my friend and said “it’s a belly button bar it doesn’t have sizes hen” in a very patronising tone, she then turned to me and asked me the same question and i told her i was just having a look before i went to go pay she scoffed and then asked my friend the same question one more time before walking away. We continued to have a look round the shop and the worker was following us around the shop from a distance and whenever we would turn in her direction she would look away and pretend to sort out the clothing racks/ look busy, this went on for another about 10 minutes before we went to go pay for our jewellery and she even followed us to the till and stood with her hands on her hips watching as we waited in line to pay. As we were leaving the shop she said to another employee “they got away empty handed”. I understand shoplifting is such a common thing for teenage girls to take part in in popular chains like new look but we did not give her any reason to think we were going to shoplift and i do not expect to be stared at and spoken to rudely as a paying customer when im trying to enjoy a day out shopping with my friends, the attitude this worker had to 3 teenage girls was honestly appalling and i will be avoiding this shop from now on however i will say the young women at the till was absolutely lovely and had 10/10 customer service. This disgustingly rude worker was an middle aged woman (mid 40s i’d reckon) she had black hair in a bun and was wearing glasses and a pink lanyard.

I went in here yesterday to look for something to wear to a wedding this weekend. The younger staff seemed friendly enough (especially the young man at the till, who was very polite). However, an older woman working in the store who was moving dresses from one rack to another was so unbelievably rude that it completely soured my experience. When I stopped to look at the dresses on the rack near where she was working, she came over and stood right next me with her hand on her hip, huffing dramatically until I moved out of her way. I'm not sure how New Look plans to sell anything if customers are treated like a nuisance by staff when trying to browse.
