  I had a disappointing experience at TK Maxx in Peterborough today. I purchased a pair of glasses priced at £29.99, but one of the decorative stones was missing. I asked if a discount was possible, and the staff member offered £0.99 off, which I accepted. About 10 minutes later, I decided I would rather return the item and buy a new one elsewhere, since the discount was minimal and the product was clearly defective. However, when I returned to the store, the same staff member refused my refund, claiming that because a discount had been given, the item was non-refundable. This policy was never explained to me at the time of purchase. I asked to speak to a manager. When the manager arrived, they asked whether I had been informed of the no-refund condition. The staff member said she did not remember. I suggested checking CCTV, but the manager refused. Eventually, the manager said “oh my god, just give her return” and walked away. I was given a refund, but no apology was offered throughout the entire interaction. This experience felt unprofessional and poorly handled. Customers should be clearly informed of any non-refundable conditions before payment, and basic courtesy, such as an apology, should not be overlooked. I hope the store can improve staff training and customer service in the future.

  Today I had a very unpleasant experience at TK Maxx. I have never posted negative comments about a store before, but I feel terrible. I took four items that I wanted to pay for with a £40 gift card from a friend for my birthday. The total should have been £40.70. I paid with the gift card, and when I was about to leave the checkout I noticed that the receipt showed £27 and only three items had been scanned. I told the girl at the register. She called a manager or problem solver. They told me to pay for the fourth item again with the gift card. However, when I registered the card online it clearly said that the card can only be used once and that I should make sure the total is not under £40. I explained this to the employees. They told me to call the company that issued the card and explain the situation. But the card issuer has no fault in this situation, and neither do I. The problem is that the staff did not scan all the items. They said they could not give me the fourth item for free. In reality, I already gave it to them for free. My friend has already paid for the gift card once, £13 from it has now been lost, and they will simply sell that item again to another customer. I will not shop there again.

  Can always find something in TK Maxx, shelves can be a bit messy and shop can be busy, so allow time.
