  Today I went to Matalan for shopping. I needed to buy some shirts for my husband, so I picked up two or three shirts along with a few other items. When I reached the till, there were two staff members there — one young woman and another who seemed to be a supervisor or senior staff member. I was standing in the queue while they were dealing with another customer’s issue. I placed my items from the trolley onto the till area while waiting. One of the staff members then told me that she was dealing with another customer first. Her tone already felt a bit rude. I was in a hurry that day and I was wearing my Pakistani national dress, a shalwar kameez. I felt that maybe because of this, their attitude towards me was different. Then the second staff member told me to remove my items from the till because they needed to deal with the other customer first. I said, “That’s fine,” put my items back into the trolley, and waited patiently until she became free. When she finally called me over, her behaviour still felt strange. She asked me whether I was in the queue or not, even though she could clearly see that I had been standing there waiting the whole time. I replied, “Yes, I am in the queue.” She then started scanning my items. At the end, I asked for the total amount, but instead of answering me, she simply asked, “Card or cash?” I said “Card,” and she told me to tap my card on the machine. After the payment, she handed me the receipt without saying “thank you” or showing any polite behaviour. I politely said “Thank you” to her myself, but she did not even respond. The behaviour of both staff members towards me felt rude, dismissive, and very different, and the whole experience made me feel upset and uncomfortable.And i will never visit matalan and never recommended to the people forward

  Very disappointing shopping experience. The entire first floor had no air conditioning and the heat was unbearable. It was so hot that we couldn't shop properly and ended up leaving with our family much sooner than planned. I genuinely felt sorry for the staff who have to work in those conditions all day. Air conditioning isn't a luxury in this situation—it's a necessity. It's unfair on both employees and customers. There were several other shoppers visibly unhappy and commenting on the heat as well. Management really needs to address this issue urgently, as it completely ruined what should have been a pleasant shopping trip. PLEASE INSTALL AIRCON!!!!

  Found the staff incredibly rude, tried asking a question and the lady wasn’t helpful what so ever. She also didn’t ask me to move as she was walking into me. Find this shocking as a company.
