  Came here a few days ago , world’s slowest staff and they charged me extra . He said ‘ oh no looks right ‘ until he got the manager and refunded us . Our visit today and the staff are super slow again . Birminghams TK max is huge , they need supervision because it’s a joke . They talk way too much and 2 of the 3 staff at the till on a busy day are chatting away doing god knows what with customers for 8-10 minutes at a time . Also saw a mouse … very grim. I love tk max but things like this are frustrating

  Double Charge, Misleading Staff Information, and Unprofessional Customer Service at Store!!! I faced an unacceptable experience at your Birmingham Store (Store Code: 0270) on August 17, 2026. I believe this incident involved misleading guidance by your staff, resulting in a duplicate and unauthorized double charge for my purchase. At approximately 17:22, I made a purchase at the checkout and paid using my credit card via contactless payment, selecting GBP as the currency. The contactless payment terminal clearly displayed the word "Approved". However, the cashier insisted that the payment had not gone through and instructed me to tap my card again. When I told her that I clearly saw the "Approved" message on the screen, she dismissed my concern by claiming, "If it were approved, it would have printed a receipt." Trusting her professional judgment, I tapped my card again at 17:23, and the screen once again displayed "Approved". Within minutes, I checked my mobile banking app and discovered that I had been charged twice for the exact same purchase. Shockingly, the first payment was processed in GBP, while the second was processed in USD. I immediately returned to the store and explained the situation to a staff member named Naima. Instead of assisting me, she offered illogical and dismissive explanations, claiming that "this has happened before, and because my card is foreign, it appears as a double charge, but one of them will be automatically cancelled within 24 hours." After consulting with my bank and confirming that both transactions were fully processed and valid, I returned to the store to speak with Naima again. She stubbornly repeated the same baseless excuse, refusing to take any action or offer a solution. She even rudely stated that if the amount was not reversed, I would have to travel all the way back to Birmingham to speak with her in person. This is completely unacceptable, irrational, and far below the customer service standards expected of a global retailer like TK Maxx. More than 24 hours have now passed, and neither transaction has been cancelled or refunded. I was forced to pay £33.17 twice for a single transaction due to the misinformation and negligence of your employee. I expect TK Maxx management to thoroughly investigate this matter, address the misconduct of staff member Naima, and issue an immediate refund for the duplicate charge of £33.17 back to my bank account. I will submit a complaint e-mail to customer help service as well. Never trust those people working there! This is my only bad experience in England as a tourist! Shame on you!
