The item was unused, with all original tags attached, and placed in the original Michael Kors bag. When I went to exchange it, the store refused and said they needed to send an email to the person who gave me the gift in order to process the exchange. This policy is extremely inappropriate and violates the right to privacy. A gift is meant for the recipient, and there should be no obligation to inform or contact the gift-giver just because the recipient wants to exchange it. That completely defeats the purpose of giving a gift and puts customers in an uncomfortable position. Because of this experience, I will never purchase gifts from Michael Kors again. There are many other brands that respect customer privacy and offer fair, reasonable exchange policies.
