I recently purchased a sewing chair at the Houston Quilt Festival, expecting a high-quality Horn brand chair based on the vendor's claims. I was led to believe this was a special deal, priced at $249.99 plus tax, totaling $270.61. The vendor insisted that the retail price was around $500 and presented it as a show special.
However, upon receiving the chair, I discovered it was shipped directly from Amazon. My receipt from Citrus Sew and Vac included a link that led me to the exact same chair on Amazon, priced at just $109.99. I felt completely misled, as I had paid significantly more for what I now realized was the same product available for a fraction of the price.
When I called the vendor to discuss this discrepancy, his response was shockingly rude. He claimed that his chair had a superior metal base compared to the Amazon version, but when I ordered the chair directly from the Amazon link, it arrived in the same box and indeed had the same metal base, contradicting his assertions about quality differences.
After looking into reviews of Citrus Sew and Vac, I found a troubling pattern of dissatisfaction among other customers, which only reinforces my concerns about their business practices. While I genuinely want to support local quilt and sewing shops, my experience with this vendor has been disappointing and discouraging. I cannot recommend Citrus Sew and Vac, as their transactions seem deceitful, and their customer service is far from acceptable. I will not be purchasing anything from them again.

I had been a customer of Citrus Sew & Vac for nearly 10 years and had years of quick, expert, and courteous service that whole time until I didn't. Here is what happened and why I will never use them again.
On about June 10th 2024 I had a sewing machine begin acting strangely and I brought it in to assess what was going on. I dropped it off after explaining that it appeared to be an electrical issue because the machine wasn't responding correctly to signals such as button presses or the pedal. I'm a professional sewist and these guys know that. We use our machines every day so they have always prioritized getting the gear back in working condition fast which I have appreciated. They called me the following day and told me they diagnosed the problem as a burnt out board and that they had replaced it and the machine was ready to pickup. The bill for the already completed work was $442. (For reference I purchased an identical refurb machine for $935 shortly after so if given the opportunity to choose I would have refused the repair in favor of replacement.)
I admit I was a little bit annoyed at this point because we had been thinking of replacing this machine and I was really expecting to receive a call and estimate before the repairs were completed. I did (politely) mention this to them but decided not to fight it and just paid for the machine and took it home. It did appear to be fixed and sewed for a couple hours before completely reverting back to the issues that we had before the repair. The machine took off out of control and it ended up with a giant rats nest of thread underneath before we were able to unplug it to make it stop. At that point I took it straight back because it clearly wasn't fixed.
The owner Scott called me and said that this was my employee's fault. He accused her of intentionally sewing along until miles of thread accumulated underneath and blew a fuse. I spoke with my employee who has been using this machine for 5 years and she explained what happened(above). He was very rude with me at this point and refused to acknowledge that anything else might have happened.
Upon reassessment of the machine now that it was back in the shop he determined that it had blown the equivalent of a fuse in the power supply. Scott explained that he could not assess the machine until this fuse was replaced. He then told me this part was not currently in stock at his store and that it was on backorder with Janome. At this point I had already replaced the machine with the aforementioned refurb so I wasn't in a hurry and told him to call me when he was able to assess the issue.
That was the beginning of what ultimately was 6 months of excuses and holding my sewing machine. I was extremely patient because I had already replaced this machine. I think I waited something like 3 months before first calling to check in. I was told the power supply part was still on backorder. I started to call every month or so and received the same answer every time. Around December I was getting impatient and called Citrus Sew and Vac to see if I could get the part number so I might try to procure the part myself. Scott got defensive and refused to give me the part number basically saying he didn't know it. Not too long after that call we finally received a call that the machine was ready in January 2025 and picked it up. I took the machine home and set it aside. I didn't get a chance to run it through its paces but I assumed it was fine. When it was time to service the replacement in about June 2025 I pulled out the old Janome assuming I could swap it in while the refurb was being serviced. As soon as my employee started sewing it was abundantly clear that the machine was still experiencing electrical problems.... Continued in image due to text limitations

Utterly shameful service from Citrus Sew & Vac. I ordered a replacement filter for my vacuum, only to be told it’s on backorder for FOUR YEARS. What is this, a filter forged by elves in a mythical forest? I’m already retired, and I’ll probably be dust myself before this part arrives! My vacuum’s now a glorified paperweight, and their customer service offers nothing but excuses. Zero communication, zero solutions. Avoid this company like the plague—buy from someone who respects their customers!
