    I go to Goodwills to look for records. I'm used to decently organized shelves, even overflow shelves you can easily look through at most. This was a small shelf and a couple boxes haphazardly filled with records, not enough space for them. If any were in good shape when they came in, they aren't now. I've found better records in better shape in dumpsters than the best they had. Even if heavily scratched, no inner sleeve, and outer sleeve is in 2 pieces, they want $2 each. Not worth the risk on any they had. Record shoppers should go to 2nd and Charles nearby. Not as cheap but also not a pile of trash facing in every direction. I can normally $100 on more at a Goodwill for records. Not a single one here.

    I love Goodwill stores. They usually have a little bit of everything and even some things you never even realized you needed until you saw it at goodwill.

    The parking is horrible, the atmosphere is salty, the other costumer are rude. The young girl that checked me out was rude. This kind of service will make you feel like not going back. The store was dirty. There was molded food in microwaves, water in the bottom of a kettle, and looked like dried milk in a glass. Was surprised because I've shopped there a lot and this was my first time with the food on/in stuff. March 2026.

    Very disappointed have gotten so greedy, I always thought this was supposed to be discounted for those less fortunate. Have a lot of nerve asking the prices that you do when everything is donated for free!

    I am writing to formally complain about my experience at your GAINESVILLE NORTH store. The visit was extremely frustrating due to the condition of the merchandise, the store layout, and most importantly the completely unprofessional behavior of several employees. 1. Unsanitary Book Conditions The condition of many of the books is unacceptable. Numerous books were dirty, stained, dusty, and some appeared to have mildew and even bugs in them. I understand these are donated items, but there still needs to be a basic level of inspection and cleanliness. Customers should not have to worry about bringing something unsanitary or contaminated into their home. 2. Poor Shelf Accessibility The way the books are positioned on the shelves makes it extremely difficult to reach them, especially for anyone with back issues or mobility limitations. Many books are pushed far back, forcing customers to stretch or strain just to grab one. This setup shows very little consideration for accessibility. 3. Poorly Designed Checkout Area The checkout area is extremely cramped because clothing racks are blocking the space near the registers. There is barely enough room for customers to stand in line. It creates a chaotic and uncomfortable environment that could easily be improved by rearranging the layout. 4. Dana – Lack of Basic Customer Courtesy When I approached the register, Dana immediately told me to go to another register and began helping the next person without even greeting me. Basic customer service means greeting customers and giving them options, not abruptly telling them to move aside. 5. Cora – Dismissive and Unprofessional Behavior She handled my books carelessly, tossed a pen and paper toward me to sign, and threw the receipt into the books before telling me to have a good day without even bagging my items. I had nine books in my cart. Anyone with common sense would understand that nine books are not something someone wants to carry out by hand. When I asked if she was going to put them in a bag, she repeatedly told me “it’s not that serious” and “you’re making a big deal about nothing.” Instead of simply doing her job and bagging the books, she continued arguing and dismissing my concern. Even worse, her reasoning was that “most people don’t want bags.” Basic customer courtesy is to ask, not assume. 6. Jalen – Escalating the Situation Another employee, Jalen, inserted himself into the situation and made it worse. He reached his hand out toward me and told me to “calm down” and again said “it’s not that big of a deal.” and aggressively told me that I could get out of the store. Telling someone to calm down when they are already frustrated is disrespectful and only escalates the situation. Reaching your hand out toward a customer while saying that is also completely inappropriate. 7. Management Response – No Accountability When I spoke to Dana, the assistant manager, she said she had been listening to the entire interaction and did not believe it was a big deal. That response showed no accountability and no attempt to understand the situation from the customer’s perspective. She was given the necessary time to explain Cora's reaction and refused. A manager should be able to acknowledge when an employee handled something poorly. At the very least, she could have acknowledged that employees should ask customers if they want their items bagged instead of assuming. Instead, the response I received felt like the employee’s behavior was simply being defended. I later spoke to Alexander, the store manager, and explained everything in detail. Conclusion Between the unsanitary condition of the books, the poor store layout, and the extremely unprofessional behavior from multiple employees, this was one of the worst retail experiences I have had. This store clearly needs better cleanliness standards, stronger customer service training, and management that actually holds employees accountable for their behavior. I now understand why they call it a ‘donation store’ because apparently common sense isn’t included.
