We got a woodstove from these guys and they are great. Nick, the owner, Michelle and Kevin (sales reps) were great. The install guys were great as well. However here are some tips from having lived the experience.
Do your research - I mean you are doing the whole thinking and planning. The guys are going to come one day to give you a quote and some rough ideas. But which place in the home is going to be right, will the floor be able to support the weight of a heavy woodstove for example, where will the chimney come out on your roof, required clearances of wall and furniture from the stove, permits - everything is on you. These guys are busy and they can't give you enough time.
Also, the install is going to happen in one day. They are going to show up, install and leave. Not a lot of planning happens from their side. I was surprised by that aspect. So just because you planned your stove in a specific corner of the room doesn't matter bc they might have to change the location by a foot so that the chimney can go between your roof joists for example. Yup they didn't think of that till they came to install. There's some playing by the ear. Maybe that's how these things are done, but it might throw your plan off. Download the manual of your stove/fireplace, check the required clearances and verify with Nick. I repeat, all the planning needs to happen from your side. Go through every detail beforehand with them.
Also make sure Nick, the owner, or someone who is in charge is there the entire time during the install. Because they tend to go to get lunch and not come back till after the install is done.
It will be hard to get them to come look at it again without having to pay unless they installed it backwards or something.
That said, our installation went fine and we didn't really need a revisit. We had a bit of a learning curve using our stove and we called them one time with a question and they didn't really care. We figured it out. Youtube helps too. They are the only show in town and the least expensive. So not a lot of room for you to negotiate. Good luck!

If you want to see what good customer service is, read my review. My stove fan broke. I called Fireplace Etc., even though I didn't buy my stove there, Nick and the whole team helped. They sourced the part, offered to meet me at a convenient spot, and walked me through the install. Thanks to them I fixed my problem and saved money. From now on I will use Fireplace Etc

They helped us choose a good looking, heat blowing gas fireplace insert that would fit into our small old fireplace and installed it in 2021, we’ve loved it ever since.
We appreciate Nick and his crew being great about returning calls and answering questions! They fixed a small fan problem while it was still warranteed and we’ve had semi-annual cleanings since then. Most recently I made a super picky request to have them come back after a cleaning to reposition one of the logs by a few inches,as crazy as I sounds it was bugging me. Cameron came back and kindly fixed it after I spoke to Nick, same day. Great service, and love the product they sold me . (i think it s a Kozy Heat Chaska).Recommend this business!

Fireplace, etc and the entire crew Nick, Kevin and Kyle were all great from start to finish. Just had a beautiful Blaze King wood stove insert installed and it’s absolutely great! Would highly recommend!
A directvent fireplace is a sealed gas system that draws combustion air from outside and expels exhaust gases outdoors through a specialized vent pipe. This efficient design eliminates the need for a traditional chimney, making it particularly suitable for basements and modern homes while maintaining safety and energy efficiency.
What are BTUs?
BTU (British Thermal Unit) is the measurement used to quantify heat output from a fireplace. Generally, fireplaces with higher BTU ratings produce more heat. The appropriate BTU level for your needs will depend on your room dimensions and whether you're using the fireplace primarily for heating purposes or aesthetic appeal.
Will a gas fireplace operate during a power failure?
Gas fireplaces equipped with standing pilot lights or battery backup systems typically continue to function during power outages. However, electronic components such as blowers, remote controls, and wall switches may be inoperable until electricity is restored.
What is the cost of heating with a gas fireplace?
The operational cost of a gas fireplace varies based on local gas rates, the unit's BTU rating, and usage duration. Gas fireplaces generally provide economical supplemental heating, with intermittent use typically costing just a few dollars per day.
Can I use vented gas logs in a stove, fireplace, or coalburning fireplace?
Vented gas logs are specifically designed for traditional wood-burning fireplaces with functional chimneys. Installation in stoves or coal-burning fireplaces is not recommended unless explicitly approved by the manufacturer. Verification of compatibility is essential prior to any installation.
I am remodeling my basement-should I choose directvent or ventfree?
For basement installations, direct-vent fireplaces are generally recommended as they expel combustion byproducts outside, preserving indoor air quality. While vent-free models offer excellent efficiency, they release combustion products into the living space, which may be problematic in enclosed or below-grade areas like basements.
Do you offer professional fireplace installation and service?
Yes, our company provides professional installation, maintenance, and service for fireplaces. Our certified technicians ensure all work complies with local building regulations and manufacturer specifications to guarantee safe and efficient operation.
Are fireplaces safe for homes with kids or pets?
Modern fireplaces incorporate numerous safety features, including sealed glass panels, cool-touch technology, and protective screens. We also provide additional safety accessories such as barriers and guards to enhance protection for households with children and pets.
Do I need a chimney for a gas or electric fireplace?
Gas fireplaces do not always require a traditional chimney. Direct-vent and vent-free models utilize alternative venting systems. Electric fireplaces require no venting or chimney whatsoever, making them exceptionally simple to install in virtually any location.
