On or about November 7, 2025, I went to Cabela's in Lone Tree, Colorado to purchase some ammo. I was approached by a woman inside the entrance who offered membership to "Cabela's Club", which would make special discounts available. Upon learning that I'm a retired cop and military veteran, she said that I would get a 10% discount on product. Then, she offered to have me apply for a credit card, which I initially declined because I have enough debt. She assured me that the application would not affect my credit score. So I did. Then she and another woman gave me a Cabela's Club hat and another for Bass Pro Shop, as well as a pamphlet with a membership number. I was told to present it at checkout for a 10% discount. I got the ammo, went to the checkout and presented the number to the clerk. Later, in reviewing the receipt, there was no discount. And now, on November 20, I see that the credit inquiry is listed on my FICO report. What a scam. Last time I'll do business there or Bass.

If it was not for being treated upon my entry, I would've given a 1. I stood at gun depo at Lone Tree Cabelas for 25 minutes, the rifle and NF scope I wanted was right there. Needless to say, Cabelas didnt want my business. So I drove 20 minutes to Murdocks and purchased everything. Do better, a simple nod would've been sufficient.

I bought a "0° F" rated, Cabela's-named sleeping bag.
Froze my but off in 40° F weather, with a mattress pad. I should have been HOT.
Sleeping bags are sold by 3 ratings - comfort, limit and extreme. Cabela's won't tell you this. And the bag won't have 2 of the 3 ratings listed. They false advertise the extreme rating and steal $200 from you.
Cabela's is a scam. Don't buy from them.

I went in here last night because I found a firearm for my girlfriend that was absolutely perfect for her and a great price. Problem was, it was used and she is learning about firearms still, so being responsible she brought me along to make sure everything is in good shape and worth purchasing. The guys working the night of 11-6-25 were absolutely FANTASTIC. They talked to my girlfriend and I and I explained why we were there. They were so excited my girlfriend was getting her first firearm and learning to protect herself, they even showed us a couple other options. After we still decided on purchasing the original one we came for. We informed him that we may need to come back the next day or two because her dad wanted to pay for it and wanted to "approve" the gun brand as well (he's a pilot and was not currently in the country) he got back the next day. This is where everything changes. The dudes working on 11-7-25 were horrible. They barely talked to us, asked any questions, and provided probably some of the worst customer support I've had in a long time ESPECIALLY at a gun store. We had the approval from her dad because he said he trusted me to make sure the gun is in working order which I did the previous night. After we got it from the hold we put it on the night before my girlfriend started her background check. I told her make sure you put your "County" and not "Country". That immediately brought up red flags for them apparently. The second straw was I was making sure everything thay was supposed to be in the box WAS in the box. They have sold me a gun with a lock on it with NO KEY. That's was strike 2. They almost DIDNT sell her the gun just because of those things and me being there. Only reason I'm not giving 1 star is because of those employees that absolutely were the most amazing gun salesman and people I've talked to in a long time. In conclusion, I understand doing your job and not selling to people who shouldn't own firearms but that shouldn't mean you create such a horrible experience to a new gun buyer, that was her first experience and I'm sorry that was it. Do better cabellas that was seriously disheartening.
Also they never even asked who I was until the very end.
