- DLDavid LiemMar 18, 20261.0We had an extremely upsetting experience at Nordstrom Rack on March 17th at around 5:00 PM. My 85-year-old mother, who has significant difficulty walking due to hip and knee issues, was browsing in the store with me. When we decided to leave, we noticed a middle-aged woman exit through a nearby side door. Because long walks are very difficult for my mother, we assumed it was an available exit and attempted to follow her. As we approached the door, the woman suddenly and aggressively slammed it shut directly in front of us (so forcefully that it nearly hit my face) and shouted “NOOO!!” before walking away. At that moment, we had no idea the door was designated for employees only, and the woman appeared to be just another customer. We later realized that she was actually A STORE EMPLOYEE. What makes this incident particularly disturbing is that, as an employee, she could have simply and politely told us that the door was for employees only. Instead, she chose to slam the door inches from my face and yell at us without any explanation or basic courtesy. Treating customers (especially an elderly person with mobility issues) with that level of hostility and disrespect is completely unacceptable. I was furious and deeply disappointed by how we were treated. No customer should ever be spoken to or physically confronted in that manner by store staff. When I ran after her and lost my temper, the woman still had no idea how impolite and rude she had been (self righteous).
