Do not buy shoes here.
My friends encouraged me to try Plato’s to buy sneakers I needed for the gym. I was a little hesitant to buy used but figured with the positive feedback I’d give it a try and it’s sustainable. I spent $40 for shoes that are usually pricier brand new and within a week the sole was coming off. I called and a very kind male employee said I could exchange them. However, when I got to the store, they said because I took the stickers off inside the shoes(on the sole where your heel is) and I misplaced my receipt(I’m such a receipt saver and the one time I need a receipt I can’t find it) they can’t allow the exchange. They even said themselves that it looks like whoever sold it to them must have glued it together before selling the shoes to them. I tried showing them on my banking app that I did actually recently purchased them and mentioned I have the card I used and if we could try looking it up in their system using the card like I have other stores. They then proceed to let me know that they were a small business and can’t do what big retail stores do, which I thought was odd because Plato’s closet has over 500 locations across Canada and the USA and they are also affiliated with Once Upon a Child. I was being kind with the staff as I work in customer service and also realize being nasty brings you no where, but I found that the staff lacked empathy and it seemed like I was more of an inconvenience. What made me decide to write a review is because I was holding back tears realizing I had wasted $40 and the worker said she would get her manager to call and now it’s been a week and they never did.
Please don’t buy shoes here, it’s just not worth it.
