Just picked up my first compound bow and went to get it setup with Ward at the archery department.
Wow! What an experience! Ward was patient and helpful! Knew everything that needed to be setup on my bow, and was very patient with me as a first timer using a compound. He even shot lefty with me in the practice range 😂
10/10 recommend! Coming back to see him now for all my archery needs!

Bass Pro Shops on Palladium Drive in Ottawa is always an interesting place to stop, even if you don’t have anything specific you need. The store is huge and there’s a lot to look through, especially if you’re into fishing, hunting, camping or other outdoor activities. It can take a while to find exactly what you’re after because of the size, but the selection makes up for it. Overall, it’s a great outdoor store and definitely worth visiting when you’re in the Kanata area.

I am an avid outdoor enthusiast who spends a significant amount of time in the woods and on the water. On a recent day trip to the area, I made a point to stop in—what used to be a primary destination for researching gear and finding higher-end brands you couldn't get at standard big-box stores.
Unfortunately, over the last 5 years, the drop in quality has been impossible to ignore. Where this store used to stand out for carrying premium, specialized equipment, it now feels packed with lowerend products being marketed at premium prices.
Much of the inventory feels indistinguishable from basic department store gear. High-end, durable equipment has largely been replaced by cheaper alternatives.
Prices here consistently run around 20% higher for the exact same products you can easily find at Canadian Tire, Amazon, or local outfitters.
If you are looking for true high-performance outdoor gear, the selection here simply terrible.
If you live in the area and just want to kill a rainy afternoon browsing around,I'm sure it’s a space to walk through. But if you’re making a special trip looking for reliable, high-quality outdoor gear, save your time and fuel—it’s no longer worth the stop.

We drove almost 2 hours to buy a birthday gift for my partner, he wanted to pick out the right camping chair for our new fire pit at home, and we spent about an hour deciding for him, and trying different ones to pick the perfect one that’s suitable for him, and when we checked out he realized I paid a lot more than expected and said something is wrong, we realized the price wasn’t correct to the one listed on several of the chairs in the aisle. We told the cashier that checked us out and she said yes, we’ve been having a lot of system errors and sale prices also not coming up, and directed us to customer service, which they said they would honour the price if he supervisor said, she got another employee to check the tags first, and it was as posted; suppose to be $89.99 but came to $129.99, and she said she only could if supervisor approved, when the supervisor came over he was argumentative and not friendly, we ended up not getting the chair because they wouldn’t honour the price as it was posted, very disappointed!!!!!! We shop there as it’s the closest one to us, but most staff were not friendly or helpful. And the supervisor blamed it on being busy and I told him that’s a poor excuse. I work in customer service myself and I asked for the return as I didn’t want to continue arguing and making worse of the situation with my child and partner, but left feeling very upset and disappointed in the service. Also they had a big dog barking in the store all over with its owner, and it did not make this experience enjoyable.
