  The store smells like a coffee and milk turned bad shop. Extremely overpriced and not great quality items. Really not worth your time and money

  Plato’s Closet’s process of buying good old clothes is a ‘ploy’ and not genuine 😟 they have no intention to buy all customer’s good old clothes but just want to make customers wait & browse the store to spend more while waiting for their good old clothes to be reviewed by the staff there… My friends & I brought some branded good old new clothes like Guess & Coach last weekend, they asked us to scan the code and fill up the forms and after waiting for 1 hour, they send our clothes back & gave the reason our clothes will not sell in their store. In actual truth, our clothes are way better than the ones they carry in their store. This is not the 1st time they rejected our good condition old clothes, it happened to our family members as well 😡 this took place in Hazealdean location!! Platos’ Closet - if you have no intention to buy any clothes from customers, just ‘stop’ this buying policy and just ask for donations of good old clothes like other thrift stores do!!

  Donated about 15 shirts that were all in great condition, on the expensive side. Was told they aren’t in style anymore… didn’t take one item. Made me wait 2 hours to be told this. While i walked around the store i found many items with wears and tears. Very disappointing. Will not be coming back here. I would make sure to do your research before wasting your time here

  I understand that selling to Plato’s Closet is never guaranteed and that staff have to be selective. However, the customer service during my visit was disappointing. The two employees working didn’t greet customers, avoided eye contact, and seemed visibly unhappy about helping us, even though we came in several hours before closing. Our clothes were carefully sorted into separate bags, which we explained to the staff, but everything was mixed back together when returned. They don’t need to refold everything, but putting unsold items back into the correct bags seems like a reasonable expectation. The buying process also feels incredibly inconsistent. They have older styles on the racks, yet sometimes won’t take newer, recognizable brands or items that seem to fit what they’re looking for. It would be helpful if the store reviewed its current inventory and cleared out older styles so its buying choices better reflected what it actually wants to sell. This is especially confusing when the store can acquire items relatively cheaply through consignment, yet many of the items on the racks are priced quite high. Some second-hand pieces are close to what you could pay for the same brands brand new on sale. I’ve seen plenty of positive reviews mentioning other staff, so I’m wondering if I simply had a bad experience with the particular employees working that day. Maybe coming earlier in the morning or encountering those staff members would have made a difference. But seeing similar concerns repeated across reviews also makes me wonder whether this feedback is actually being addressed. At this point, I’m honestly unsure whether I’d have a better experience at another Plato’s Closet location or whether I’d be better off just donating my clothes. I understand there’s no guarantee they’ll buy anything, but basic customer service and a consistent buying process should be.
