I’m honestly very disappointed with my experience today.
I brought in a seasonal selection of clothing, including very good-quality pieces from Zara, Wilfred, Ralph Lauren, and even some items that still had the original tags attached. When I arrived, a staff member took my bag, briefly looked through it, and put everything back. I was told the evaluation would take about 20-25 minutes, so I walked around the store and then waited in my car.
After 35 minutes, I still hadn’t received the text message I was told I would get. I finally went back inside to check, only to be told that they had written my phone number down incorrectly and therefore never sent the message.
And, of course, they ended up taking absolutely nothing.
What I find especially frustrating is that I looked around the store and saw the kind of clothing they currently have for sale, and honestly, I wouldn’t take some of those items even for free. Meanwhile, I brought in clean, current, very wearable pieces from brands like Zara and Wilfred, including items with tags.
If you are that selective about what you accept, it would be much more helpful to clearly explain what brands, styles, seasons, and conditions you are actually looking for. That way, people can make an informed decision before driving to the store with bags of clothing and wasting their time.
Also, the communication was very disappointing. If I hadn’t gone back inside to ask what was happening, I could have easily spent another 30 minutes sitting in my car waiting for a text message that was never going to arrive.
I completely understand that a store has to be selective about what it buys. That’s not the issue. The issue is the lack of transparency and the way the whole process was handled.
Please be more upfront about your buying criteria so customers know what to expect before making the trip.

I’ve been to Plato’s Closet Mississauga several times now, and it’s always one of my go-to spots for thrift shopping. They have a surprisingly great selection for both guys and girls, with lots of trendy brands and unique pieces that are in really good condition. Whether I’m looking for casual everyday clothes or something a little different, I almost always leave with a few great finds.
The staff have always been friendly and welcoming. They’re quick to help with opening the fitting rooms and are happy to answer any questions without making you feel rushed. The store is well organized, making it easy to browse through everything, and since the inventory changes so often, every visit feels like a new experience.
If you enjoy thrifting or want quality clothing without paying full retail prices, I’d definitely recommend checking this location out. I’ve found some amazing pieces here over the years, and it’s one of those stores that’s worth stopping by regularly because you never know what you’ll discover. Highly recommend!
