I visited The Shoe Company at Markville Mall twice this week, on June 15 and June 17.
This is not primarily a complaint about customer service however, I was disappointed with my experience on both visits. On each occasion, I asked an associate at the front cash area if a particular shoe was available in my size. Rather than checking the stock or offering assistance, she advised that everything available was already located underneath the display and remained behind the cash counter.
While I understand that stock availability may be limited, I felt that there was little effort made to assist me as a customer, which left a negative impression.
Additionally, I was concerned about the associate’s overall appearance. As a customer facing employee, professional presentation is important. On both visits, she appeared unkempt, with messy hair and a generally untidy appearance that did not reflect the professional image I would expect from a retail environment.
The associate had long dark curly hair, wore glasses, and was working during my visits.
I wanted to provide this feedback in hopes that it can be addressed and used to improve the customer experience moving forward.
The experience I had at this store today was very disappointing.
I visited the store to complete a straightforward exchange for a pair of shoes that I had purchased online. Since the store did not have the color and size I originally wanted, I selected the same brand and style in a different color instead.
At the checkout, I was informed that I would need to pay the price difference, despite it being an exchange. I was told this was Shoe Company policy. When I requested to see the policy, the assistant manager stated that "they were not legally required to show" it to me.
The situation then escalated unnecessarily. During our discussion, I found the assistant manager's behavior to be rude and unprofessional, and she ultimately refused to serve me.
While still in the store, I contacted Shoe Company Customer Service to understand my options. While I was on the phone, the store called mall security and asked that I leave the premises.
After reading other reviews about the customer service at this location, I am unfortunately not surprised by my experience. There appears to be a recurring pattern of complaints regarding staff conduct. If Shoe Company values its loyal and VIP customers, it should seriously review the feedback being provided about this store and take appropriate action.
The store can get quite crowded at times, which makes browsing a bit less comfortable, but there is a wide selection of footwear for different needs
Good spot for everyday lifestyle shoes, running shoes, and kids' footwear, though if you're searching for specific, high-end athletic performance gear or rare sneaker drops, you might find the selection a bit limited compared to the dedicated sports stores nearby. That said, their rewards program is great, the checkout process is quick, and the prices are very reasonable for solid brand-name shoes

The manager at the store no help and pleasant person to deal with, but the lady at the cash cashier was a much help and smile to keep the customer happy. I never will come back to the store to buy anything. Even the price was cheap. I will choose another store with a happy manager can assist and help the customer.
