Plato's Closet buys and sells gently used clothing, shoes, sneakers, accessories and athletic wear for teens and young adults in Cambridge. Sell styles you no longer wear for cash on the spot, or shop thrifted, secondhand, and resale fashion, including trendy, brand-name styles for less. With 500+ independently owned and operated locations across the U.S. and Canada, fresh inventory arriving daily, Plato's Closet makes thrifting easy, affordable, and more sustainable.
I will never return to this location. Two years ago, I stopped shopping here because a specific staff member was extraordinarily rude and argumentative, refusing to let me use my reward points until the store owner intervened and confirmed I was right.
I decided to give the store another chance last week and spent over $600. Unfortunately, several items had undisclosed stains or holes caused by staff carelessly shooting plastic price tags straight through delicate garment fabric rather than through the interior seam.
When I went in to return those damaged items within their posted 7-day policy, that exact same employee was at the register. When I noted the reason for the return, she argued with me about what "damage" meant, making excuses that the fabric was simply "hard to punch through the seam." She then falsely claimed I was no longer eligible for a refund, and when I pointed out that it had been exactly 7 days from the previous Monday, she was argumentative.
When I asked why she treats customers with such hostility, she offered a classic non-apology about just being "focused." There is a huge difference between being focused and being outright rude, dismissive, and confrontational to paying customers.
Ruining inventory by tagging directly through main fabrics is bad enough, but treating customers who spend hundreds of dollars with attitude, eye rolls, and false policy pushback is unacceptable. I reached out directly to store management via email to address this privately and received zero response. Save your money and shop at a location that values customer service and takes care of their clothing.

They don’t take anything you sell lol. Basically what they want is 100% brand new so they can pay a few dollars and sell it for as close to retail as possible. The irony is the majority of the things they sell look like garbage but they tell you they don’t want your stuff because it’s not “good enough condition”. Post your stuff online, this place is 🤡

Garbage location. I was first to drop off items - waiting before the store opened. I was told 15 minutes and that I would receive a text. Grabbed some quick food for myself & my baby, I then saw a lady who took clothes in at that moment, come out 10 minutes later with half her bags and money in hand, yet I still didn’t get a text.
I went in and out of the 15 items I brought in, they took two… offering me $9 for Lululemon shirts, what a joke! Never coming here again.

They turned away some clothes due to overstocking, so make sure you go a few weeks before a season starts to give away your clothes. The wait time was under 1 hour and the process was quite smooth.
