  I have been shopping at American eagle for years and have never had a negative experience until this evening. I came into the store to return a pair of jeans that arrived defective from an online order. The two employees at the register were very nice and friendly. I explained the strange pattern of squares on one leg of the jeans that were visible when they were on. I went to the fitting room to try them on and came out to the storefront to show the employees and they agreed that the jeans were not supposed to look like that. They paged the manager and when she came out front I could tell by her attitude that she wasn’t happy that she was disturbed. She didn’t even say hello, just said “what’s the problem”. I showed her the leg of the jeans that had an unusual pattern of squares down one side of the leg. She said “well they are suppose to be that way”. I said that they didn’t show any pattern online. She said “ well you’re wearing them now so there isn’t anything I can do”. I explained to her that I tried them on so I could show them the problem and the tags were all still attached. She walked away and I went to change back into the pants I had on coming to the store. The two at the cash were extremely helpful afterwards. They took back the jeans and ordered me a new pair. The colour was dreamy indigo and there isn’t supposed to be a square pattern down one leg. As someone who worked in the customer service industry for years, I have never had an experience that has left me so uncomfortable when returning an item that was defective. Customers should be treated with respect. This is probably the last time I will be going to this location.

  Excellent service. I was in a hurry but the sale rep was so helpful. She even took me inside the storage room to show me stock there isn't for display yet. Perhaps sportchek can learn a thing or two from AE about customer service.
