Bought a smoker, trying to fit in my SUV since I don’t have a truck. I had to remove the legs so i can load it. They didn’t want to touch it and I understand. I ask after I remove the legs can you help me load the grill to my car. No one answered, they wheeled the smoker to my car, then they closed the garage door in the warehouse. Bought a thousand dollar smoker and no one helped 🫠

This is specific to the Irvine, CA store gun counter. If you are buying a firearm here, be prepared to spend a very long time waiting. I've purchased, sold and transferred a healthy amount of firearms at establishments like Turners, Ammo Bros, Riflegear, Riffle Supply and numerous other smaller shops. I am well versed in the process of purchasing a firearm and the steps taken to prevent those who are forbidden by law from purchasing a firearm. It takes a significant amount of time, and for good reason. This was my first time purchasing a firearm at Bass Pro. My son purchased one, too. The level of checking, double checking and triple checking at Bass Pro is beyond absurd. Simply picking up a firearm after the 10 day waiting period (which at this place is actually 11 days, I don't know how they get away with that) can take up to 3 hours. It's not a staffing issue. They had the same staff as many other gun shops. The issue as I identified it from watching them as I waited is the redundancy in their process. I came to the conclusion that whomever came up with their procedures for selling firearms at Bass Pro, doesn't actually want to sell firearms and this is how they discourage people. If you catch my drift. If you're time is valuable, I would think twice about coming here to purchase a firearm. Also if you are going to buy a firearm here, I would buy it online. When you buy online, and the firearm is ready, they email you to schedule an appointment to complete the DROS. That's the only way to schedule an appointment. My son did that and they seemed to call his name quicker than the walk-ins.

Wasted 40 minutes of my time because they don’t have enough people working at the ammo counter. You’re better off driving to Riverside to buy ammo. What a worthless store. And to top it off, my wife couldn’t take my daughter to look at the fish because some Hilton Vacation sales person kept bothering her. Probably the worst retail experience we have ever had. Just shut this store down already.

My parents just tried to call your store 8 times & my mom finally got a hold of somebody in the boating department. So my mom told them why they called for & they just transferred the call to that department & still no answer!! It’s a Sunday. I’m sure it’s crowded but if yall aren’t going to answer your phones don’t have them. That simple!! My parents are going down there right now & hopefully they have what they wanted if not I’ll be writing another bad review!! Terrible!!

This was my third attempt in a week to purchase a firearm from this store. On my previous visits, I arrived too close to closing time, which I understand isn’t ideal given the paperwork involved. So this time, I did everything right: I called ahead to confirm that arriving an hour before closing would be enough, and then showed up exactly as advised. Despite that, the experience was a disaster. The check-in kiosk was turned off, so I checked in by phone. Within 30 seconds, an employee told me there was only a “5% chance” I’d be helped tonight—despite being second in the queue and seeing at least five employees behind the counter. That statement alone speaks volumes about their priorities. I asked for a manager. Five minutes later, Travis (the manager) came out. After explaining this was my third trip and that I had called ahead, he assured me they would take care of me. I appreciated the promise—until it became clear it meant nothing. An hour later, the store was closing. I still hadn’t been helped, and two customers who checked in after me were served first. My original check-in had been removed from the system and pushed to the back of the line. When I raised this issue, Travis doubled down, insisting they could still help me and claiming he had done nothing wrong. Instead of resolving the situation, he became defensive and combative—completely failing to de-escalate. Bottom line: This was an appalling experience. I went out of my way to follow their rules, called ahead, and arrived early, only to be ignored and treated poorly. If this is how they handle customers who are ready to spend money, it’s no surprise retail stores like this are dying. I’ll take my business elsewhere—where competence and customer service actually matter!
