- JGJennifer GrayJan 26, 20241.0Absolutely one of the WORST experiences I have had. I walked in with my daughters and was immediately looked up and down by employee Keith as if I had zero business being in the store. The stares continued and we felt completely judged and discriminated against by all the employees there. Kara the associate also stared continually in addition to Keith who continued to give an attitude and laugh. We could hear them talking about us and turning and laughing. While my daughter was trying something on, they stared at us while outside the dressing room and when we stared back Keith walked by and said something to my daughter negatively. He then took a hanger and threw it in a box right next to where she was standing. When leaving, I asked for his name as well as the managers and was told he was the manager as well as Susan. I later called and asked to speak to Susan and Keith answered. When I asked to speak to her he said she was with a customer. I asked when her shift was over and he would not tell me. I asked when her next shift was he also would not tell me and said they aren’t allowed to give out schedules. It should not matter how someone is dressed or if they are perceived to fit whatever image Madewell is trying to cater to. Implicit bias is a very real thing and their staff should be better trained on providing quality customer service. No employee especially a manager should ever laugh, judge, stare, or talk about customers. Do better Madewell.
