I was looking to replace a pair of Steve Madden boots I bought years ago that were really good shoes and served me well, but are reaching the end of their life. The sales girl was very nice and helpful, she said that they didn't have those specific boots in store but they could order them and ship them to me, and she helped me try on some different styles as well.

She stared at me the entire time I was in the store without greeting me or offering assistance, which made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Fortunately, another employee came from the back to offer help, but the initial encounter had already left a negative impression. When I chose to leave without making a purchase, the first employee smirked at me as I walked out, which was both inappropriate and disrespectful. As a Black customer who has shopped at many Steve Madden locations without issue, this experience was especially disheartening. This was my first visit to this location, and it will definitely be my last. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because no customer should feel singled out or unwelcome.
