We had an extremely disappointing experience at the Louis Vuitton store on Rodeo Drive today. After an eventful day shopping and being treated above and beyond at so many other stores in the area, we were genuinely excited to stop in here as the last visit of the day. We had even visited another Louis Vuitton location earlier and had a fantastic experience, so this was a complete shock. As soon as we entered, an employee greeted us, but within moments we were told we had to go “wait in line” outside, even though there was no line at all and the store was nearly empty. The second employee who handled the situation was never polite, never properly greeted us, and simply escorted us out without any basic customer service or explanation that made sense. We left immediately and won’t be returning. For a brand at this level, this kind of treatment is unacceptable.

I’ve shopped at Louis Vuitton for years, but my experience at the Beverly Hills location was by far the most disappointing and unprofessional encounter I’ve had with any luxury retailer. After visiting the store, we ordered a pair of shoes online. When they arrived, they had an obvious manufacturing defect. Expecting the level of service Louis Vuitton is known for, we brought them back to the Beverly Hills boutique for a simple exchange. Instead, we were met with hostility. Both Esteban/Estefan and the store manager, Brandon, dismissed the defect outright and became noticeably aggressive when we pointed it out. Rather than acknowledging a clear quality issue, they accused us of “nitpicking,” repeatedly insisting that “leather is natural” and “it comes from an animal,” as though we were inventing the problem. The tone they took was condescending, defensive, and entirely inappropriate, especially for a brand that prides itself on craftsmanship and customer care. What should have been a straightforward exchange turned into an uncomfortable and unnecessarily antagonistic interaction. Their attitude alone made it clear we were not valued as customers, so we chose to return the shoes entirely rather than continue the conversation. Luxury brands succeed because of their service, trust, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, this location failed on all three. I hope Louis Vuitton takes a serious look at the customer experience at this store, because it is not reflective of the standard the brand claims to uphold.

I traveled with my son to Beverly Hills this week to attend a show at the Saban. On a whim, I decided to stop in here to see if I could grab a nice gift for my wife, who had to stay home. Until this week, my only experience with high-end retail was watching "Pretty Woman", so it was a little intimidating walking into their store, dressed for a metal concert, and ask for help finding a bag that would fit my budget. My sense of 'not belonging here' quickly evaporated in the hands of the staff, who were warm and engaging. Their appearance, professionalism and product knowledge were perfectly on-point, and I was able to quickly select a great gift for my wife (who immediately started crying once I gave it to her back at home) just in time to hit my dinner reservation and then my show. Moreover, I discovered I was only one of several people shopping there who, like me, did not look like your usual high-end shopper; however, everyone was being treated superbly and truly seemed to be enjoying their experiences in the store. I went in intimidated; I left feeling warm and wowed. So, thanks for treating me with sincere care and respect. This will certainly not be my last purchase from Louis Vuitton, thanks to the fine people at their Beverly Hills store.
