  Very disappointing customer service at The Shoe Company in Penticton. We were looking at three pairs of shoes that were very similar in colour and asked a young employee with short, dark hair for some help. She basically told us she couldn’t help and that we should just look at what was on the shelf. She wouldn’t even come over to assist us. What made it even more frustrating was watching her walk around the store asking customers if they needed help, while doing very little to actually assist anyone. It felt like she was pretending to be helpful while making customers more frustrated. I then spoke with the assistant manager to make a complaint and asked for the employee’s name. The response I received was, “She’s just a teenager. That’s what teenagers are like.” I was told the only thing they could do was talk to her. Being a teenager is not an excuse for poor customer service. There are many young people who are incredibly hardworking, friendly and helpful. Customers should not have to feel like they are bothering an employee when asking for assistance. We were prepared to spend approximately $200–$400 and are regular customers who shop there every few months. Instead, we left without purchasing anything and will not be returning. Management should take customer service complaints seriously rather than dismissing the behaviour with, “She’s just a teenager.” Very disappointing experience.

  Had to order thr size and colour I wanted but they arrived within 3 business days. I picked them up at the store and wore them home. Staff was very helpful
