Disney is pushing mobile checkout using your phone to scan and pay for items rather than staffing the checkout line. During my last visit I purchased a hoodie. After walking back to my hotel I found that the security tab hadn’t been removed. So, I had to walk back to the store to get this removed. This was another mile of walking after a long day of walking. The tag was removed after I showed my receipt. After my visit I shared my experience with guest services and requested some form of compensation such as a gift card or discount code for my inconvenience. Disney responded days later to say that they thanked me for my feedback and were sincerely sorry, but no mention of any consideration. So, don’t expect anything except words from Disney if they make a mistake. This is a stark difference from about ten years ago when I visited the park. We had a waffle sundae at California Adventure where the waffle tasted a bit stale. After my vacation I sent a note to Disney just to let them know. They ended up sending me Disney dollars which I didn’t ask for. Disney used to be a company that was most concerned about the customer experience so that people would come back. Disney is now most focused on shareholder value. It is sad.
