Plato's Closet buys and sells gently used clothing, shoes, sneakers, accessories and athletic wear for teens and young adults in Red Deer. Sell styles you no longer wear for cash on the spot, or shop thrifted, secondhand, and resale fashion, including trendy, brand-name styles for less. With 500+ independently owned and operated locations across the U.S. and Canada, fresh inventory arriving daily, Plato's Closet makes thrifting easy, affordable, and more sustainable.
Honestly, one of the most frustrating consignment experiences I’ve had. I’ve brought multiple bags of clothes to Plato’s Closet, including high-end brands, and they either refuse almost everything or offer around $10 for what was easily $100+ worth of clothing.
What makes it even more frustrating is seeing items on the racks that have stains, rips, and are clearly in less-than-great condition. The inconsistency in what they accept versus what they sell is really disappointing.
I personally wouldn’t recommend this Plato’s Closet. I’ve had a much better experience at Style Encore in Gasoline Alley and would recommend going there instead.

I was waiting in line and all like 5 workers ignored me then one of the guys gave me an extremely rude look and the cashier with the curly hair seemed very annoyed with me just because I wanted to buy something?

I had a really disappointing experience at Plato’s Closet today. Before coming in, I called at 4:44 p.m. to ask if they were still accepting buy-in bags. I was told they stop taking bags after 5:00 p.m. and that if I arrived before then, they would still accept them.
I arrived at 4:54 p.m. with three bags, only to be told they weren’t taking any more bags. Not only was this the complete opposite of what I had been told over the phone, but the staff were also rude and dismissive instead of apologizing for the miscommunication.
If your store has a cutoff time, that’s completely understandable—but customers shouldn’t be told one thing over the phone and then refused service when they arrive within the time they were given. The poor communication and customer service made the experience very frustrating.
Managment should ensure ALL employees are trained the same way and that buying rules are all the same, not what ever each employee thinks is appropriate at that time.

Staff told us on the phone they were buying, 10 mins later all of a sudden they arent anymore, drove an hour then waiting another to be able to sell just to be turned away. Ridiculous, staff should be communicating with each other if this is what theyre going to do.
*edit because the buisness clearly like to try and run around what people say according to most of the replies**
