- KKKCNov 17, 20252.0Well I'm conflicted, I got a great deal, I purchased 5 garments total well over $100. However they were all on clearance plus I got more discounted because I opened a credit account. My total was less than $20. But here is the issue, I was assured over and over by the employee that this would not be a hard inquiry on my credit report. By the time I got home, I had an email from Transunion informing me of a hard inquiry! I'm very angry that I trusted this employee. I've been working very hard on my credit rating and now my rating took a dip that will stick around for longer than I wanted. I will be closing this account immediately. And I will not be shopping at JCPenney for my Christmas presents this year. You can not be going around telling people false information in order to boost your sales targets. This is actually an illegal practice. You can do real harm to people. People can be denied housing based on their credit report. They will get a higher interest rate on car purchases. And you can place them in debt that they can not afford to pay off. Management needs to educate their employees!
