Founded in Vancouver BC in 1998, the first lululemon shared its retail space with a yoga studio. We've been growing ever since, and our technical yoga and run clothes are now available in countries all over the world. We want to elevate the world from mediocrity to greatness. Our Mission Statement is to create components for people to live longer, healthier, fun lives. We make technical athletic apparel for yoga, dancing, and most other sweaty pursuits.
All lululemon locations have strong ties to our local communities.
Easily the rudest in-store customer service experience I’ve ever had.
When we walked in, there was only one associate at the counter. We told him we wanted to make a return, and he asked us to wait while he helped another customer — totally fine. We browsed nearby by the counter.
After that customer left, we stood in the waiting line right in front of him. Instead of acknowledging us, he completely ignored us, kept his head down, and slowly folded clothes. I waited, walked away briefly, came back, stood right in front of him again, and waited about two full minutes. Only then did he finally say, “You can come over.” There were no other customers the entire time.
I was holding a Whole Foods paper bag with the items inside. When I tried to hand it to him or set it on the counter, he refused to take it and motioned for me to put it on a nearby basket platform instead.
I needed to return three items, including a bag just past the return window. I only noticed this when he pointed it out, and then I politely asked if it could be an exception. He said no, which I accepted. What bothered me was his tone and expression — condescending and dismissive, as if I were trying to take advantage of the store. He then emphasized that the other two items “CAN” be returned, in a way that felt more like attitude than service.
During the refund, he struggled with basic steps and took a long time to figure out the payment method. When he realized the purchase was made with a gift card, he said, “Oh, you used a gift card,” in a tone that came across as dismissive.
After everything was done, I picked up my bag and left. I said, “Thank you.” He responded with nothing.
That one moment summed up the entire experience.
I shop at Lululemon a lot, and I’m a top-tier member. This was by far the most rude, unprofessional, and unpleasant experience I’ve ever had with this brand. Extremely disappointing.
