I recently worked with Gauthier Jewelry on the creation of a custom wedding band. I had not worked with them previously but selected them after visiting 3 other well known, high end boutique jewelers in the Valley. The service at Gauthier in addition to the stunningly beautiful custom pieces that they have on display at their gallery easily convinced me that selecting them was the right option. Now having received the ring, I can state without doubt that they were the best choice. The design is a perfect match for what I wanted, and the quality of the band and sapphires has exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended.

I had high hopes for this shop and maybe I was too excited for the opportunity to work with this jeweler. I had arrived in February to drop off some stones and have them made into a bracelet and ring. I was given a pick up date of April 8th and told that the work would be done well before that time. So a week before the site date I reached out and they told me that they wouldn't have things ready on time. Which was fine, the jewelry was for me and I didn't have a timeline to get it in. April 9th my alexandrite bracelet was ready, and I noticed it wasn't the chain I selected, and I was told to buy a 16" chain that they would modify into 2 bracelets which they did, but the chain length was less than 16" so I'm guessing they pocketed the remaining 2" of gold chain, to melt down or use on someone else.
April 22nd I was told that the ring I commissioned was ready, but it wasn't made to the specifications I requested, so they have me my remaining stones and held onto the ring. I asked for a photo of it after I had seen it to decide if it was something I could live with, but they had already began altering the ring to look the way I had requested. On the 23rd they asked if I could bring back the unused stones again and I did, when they opened on the 24th. That same day they told me the ring was ready, so I stopped by at 4pm, only to find out it wasn't. I was asked to wait until the shop closed, but it still wasn't ready so Michelle Gauthier offered to drive it to me the next day since I didn't want it shipped. I agreed and offered to make my last payment, and she tried to over charge me, saying that the receipt she made me was inaccurate. After arguing with her for a moment she said she would eat the difference, and agreed to charge me what was on my receipt. By the 25th I messaged Michelle and said I could pick the ring up myself on Friday before I left for a trip. She didn't respond. I called her at 4pm and she didn't respond. I called the store and another man answered and said that the jeweler hadn't worked on the ring and it wasn't ready so I asked if I could get it after my trip and he Said that would be fine. At 4:55pm Michelle called me and said that the ring would be ready for pick up Friday by 11 and that her manager would call me when they opened to confirm.
Friday April 26th I waited till 10:30am before calling again, the same man answered and said the ring would be ready, which it was, though it looks like it was rushed to be polished since there are some spots where it's dirty. The way the alexandrite is set not a lot of light will be able to pass through it so it won't color change very well, and the ring is the most uncomfortable thing I've ever worn. Looking at it reminds me of how poorly I was treated by Michelle. If I can offer any advise it is this, keep your invoice or you may be paying hundreds more than you were quoted.
