I consider myself a frequent Alo customer, so this review is extremely disappointing to write. I stopped by the Scottsdale location on Saturday, 11/15, originally to purchase a gift. While browsing, I saw there was a 30% off storewide promotion, so I decided to treat myself to an Alo sweatpant set with the matching crewneck.
I found the sweatpants in the color I wanted but couldn’t locate the matching top. I asked an associate named Taylor for help, and she immediately told me they were out of that color. She did not offer to look for it, check the back, or even try to help. Her tone felt very dismissive, so I just said I would order the crewneck online. When the online order arrived, it was the wrong color.
On 11/18, I called the store and spoke with another associate. As I explained what I needed, she told me, “Oh, we actually have that item in store.” I asked her to please check that it was the correct color because Taylor had told me they were sold out. She came back and said they actually had 13 in stock, and she didn’t understand why I was told otherwise. At this point I was frustrated, but I let her know I’d come in on Thursday, 11/20, since I also work in the mall.
When I came in to do a simple exchange for the correct color, I explained the situation to the associate at the register. She told me they could do the exchange but would not honor the original 30% off, unless I exchanged it for the same exact crewneck in a different size which made no sense because the entire issue started with me being given the wrong color. I asked to speak to a manager.
The manager, Sal, came over, and the interaction was honestly one of the most disrespectful experiences I’ve had in retail. As I tried to calmly explain the situation, he cut me off with,
“Hey babe, are you OK? It seems like you’re going to cry and if you are, I can’t help you.”
I was sick that day, but certainly not crying, and his comment was belittling and humiliating. I’ve never been spoken to that way by a manager before, especially when I was just trying to fix a mistake made on their end.
After going back and forth, he finally agreed to honor the price, which I appreciated, though it didn’t feel like I should have had to fight for it.
When the associate went to grab the correct crewneck in a size Small, she came back and told me they were actually out of that size after telling me they had some in the back. At that point, I just said I’d take whatever they had because I wanted to leave as quickly as possible. The entire interaction left me embarrassed, frustrated, and extremely disappointed.
I’ve always loved Alo and had great experiences before, but this visit was incredibly negative. Between the lack of help, the misinformation, the refusal to honor the original discount despite the store’s mistake, and the disrespectful behavior from the manager, I walked out feeling completely discouraged from shopping at this location again.
Alo is known for premium products and premium service but this experience was far from it. I truly hope the Scottsdale store takes this feedback seriously.

I called the store to speak with a representative because I ordered something online that turned out to be too big. I live right across from the new Alo store that’s about to open, but I don’t know the exact opening date. I wanted to find out when it will open so I wouldn’t have to drive far to another location just to make an exchange.
However, the person I spoke with had absolutely no idea about the Alo store opening at Biltmore location. When I asked if he was working from home or inside an Alo store, he said he works from home. I told him this was very misleading — it made me believe I was speaking directly with someone inside the Scottsdale Fashion Square store, not with someone working remotely, possibly even from another state or country.
To make matters worse, he sounded half asleep, and I had to repeat myself several times because he couldn’t understand what I was saying. After explaining my question twice, he still asked me to “explain it briefly.” I honestly couldn’t believe I was speaking with an adult representing Alo.
