I like that every other department you'll find a random chair between aisles and racks, I LOVE whoever does that, I NEED a spot to sit. I have had a credit card with JCPenney since the 1990's. It's not a store I frequent often but I have kept the card for credit reporting purposes. I made a large purchase about 8 months ago. The plan was to pay the card off quickly. Today I check my current balance and learned that my APR is now 39.99%, which is beyond ridiculous. I was never made aware of this giant leap. Upon calling to get a lower rate, I was informed that there is nothing that can be done. This is how they treat long term customers? I have had a stellar relationship with JCPenney and my credit score is in the mid 700's. How is the high APR justified? The answer I kept getting is that I agreed to that APR when I opened my account. If that is indeed true, I would like to have the interest rate from the 90's, PLEASE!! Guess my long-term loyalty is not as important as the ridiculously high APR. Who in their right mind would pay such a high interest rate?! The moral of this story is to check your current credit card statements/rates and don't get a card with JCPenney/Synchrony. My card is already cut up and in the garbage.
