- CGConnor Griffin6 days ago1.0Horrible experience with the manager today Jan 11 2026. I received two pairs of shorts as a Christmas gift from my girlfriend. I needed to size up, so we came by to do a simple exchange. The manager was adamant that we pay the new price for the shorts, which were no longer on sale. So the even exchange became a $20 up charge, which is ridiculous. My girlfriend was trying to respectfully ask why we were being charged despite doing an even exchange, and the manager kept interrupting her and being rude. We were genuinely confused, but the manager treated us like we were being combative. The manager insisted that she was unable to match the price to avoid the upcharge, but when we gave up and decided to just return everything, she was able to match the price. We wanted to spend our money here but instead they lost the sale and we didn't get shorts all because the manager had an ego.

I was not able to return a clearly defective tweed jacket that I bought two weeks ago today because I removed the tag. I had the receipt and card used to purchase it. I planned to wear the jacket one day but noticed the sewing on one pocket was all crooked and stretched. I figured I would easily be able to return it because it was clearly damaged in production. Wrong. There’s no telling how many tens of thousands of dollars I’ve spent there over the years. That’ll be the last time I ever buy anything from J Crew. I also recommend others avoid the Chandler Factory at all costs.
