If you love high rent, low-quality appliances, and management emails that read like detention slips, Element 84 is the place for you!
Let’s start with the good: Sandra. Sandra was the heart and soul of this place. She made it feel like home, cared about the residents, and was basically the apartment fairy godmother. But then she left… and so did the magic.
The pool? Lovely! That is, if you enjoy rowdy college kids. Not exactly the family-friendly oasis you’d hope for. The hallways sometimes smell like weed, and if you like surprises, you might enjoy the occasional drunk student mistaking your front door for theirs.
Management’s communication style was… let’s call it “strict middle school principal.” Every email felt like we were getting scolded for passing notes in class. Meanwhile, actual issues, like our broken ethernet ports, were met with a "thats not our problem, call youe ISP. Apparently, basic maintenance like switching cables in a closet was beyond their skill set.
Speaking of maintenance, I hope you enjoy waiting! Our washer and dryer in the new unit were broken when we moved in and stayed that way for two weeks. You’d think with rent increases, they'd fix things before handing over the keys, but that would make too much sense.
Then there was Vicki. Ah, Vicki. If you enjoy playing a fun game called “Did she really just say the opposite of what she told me in person?” then you’ll love her communication style. Cold, unhelpful, and disingenuous. Pro tip: Get everything in writing, even if you're just asking to borrow a pencil.
Parking? Hope you like sharing! The person next to our garage space treated it like a free-for-all, constantly parking different cars halfway into our spot. The old manager was trying to resolve it, but after she left, the new response was essentially, “Yeah, that sucks. You could move, though.” So, if you want free parking, just park over the line into your neighbor’s space! Management won’t stop you.
Now, let’s talk price. Is this place worth it? Rent went up every year while amenities mysteriously vanished. We even transferred into a unit from a couple who had only lived there for three month, only to find out they had been paying $150 LESS than what we were being charged to take it over. What a deal!
And, because they really want you to feel valued, during the state fair, you’re not even allowed to park in the overflow lot. Why? Because they rent it out. Yes, they literally profit off making your life more inconvenient.
So, in summary, unless you enjoy overpriced rent, passive-aggressive emails, broken appliances, and a management team that treats you like an unruly high schooler, maybe keep looking. Unless, of course, you’re here for the Element 84 experience: high cost, low reward, and a strong chance of being scolded via email.
