I lived in Domain for the first year of my graduate program. I was able to choose my apartment and sign the lease for a one-bedroom without physically traveling to the location which was great as I was coming from out of state. Adding parking to my lease later was easy. Moving in for the most part was smooth, as was moving out.
The staff and maintenance at Domain were lovely. They were kind and quick to solve problems when they were made aware of them. Maintenance also often left notes explaining what caused issues which was appreciated, especially in the case of my heat dying.
The accessibility of the building for the most part was good, the ramps and elevators were easy to use, the apartment itself had wide enough doors and hallways that I could wheel my wheelchair through them fairly easily (though I am an ambulatory user so I can't speak to a situation of consistent use). Having laundry in-unit was extremely helpful given that I can't go down/up a lot of stairs especially while carrying heavy things. The only complaint I have on that front was that most of the automatic doors to the building closed extremely fast, like crunched me in the door fast, and at least a few times the buttons didn't actually work.
There is a grocery store within walking distance (though it is slightly more expensive) and multiple bus lines less than a block from the building, it's about a 15 minute walk to campus as well.
On the negative side of things, Domain is extremely expensive and if you're not using the additional amenities (gym, dog washing station, etc) frequently, or at all, its not really worth the cost. There are no utilities included, and if you need parking it's even worse.
While the location is great for access to state street and campus, it's loud pretty much all the time. There was construction constantly the entire time I lived there, the worst of which was the first two months when the entire building vibrated for 8-10 hours a day, 6 days a week.
People are constantly drag racing down Johnson, there's sirens frequently as well (which was not helped by Domain testing their fire alarms every quarter at 7:45 in the morning (why...)). My neighbors were often having parties until 4 or 5am and vibrating my bedroom wall (and repeated noise complaints that staff responded to, notes on the door, trying to knock to ask them to turn it down, did not solve the problem). There was also an LED disco light that beamed through my window 4 days a week from a bar on gorham st because, unfortunately, I just happened to be level with their 2nd story window (my friend 2 stories up did not have the same problem). I was at least allowed to put up blackout curtains for that.
These, of course are not the fault of Domain itself, but something to be aware of. If you are like me and are at the age where partying like an undergrad isn't your jam, or you just have sensory issues, the noise level might be an issue.
I will say, they were fair with security deposit refunds. I was in my apartment I would say 90% of the time and used my appliances often (there was definitely some things I couldn't get off the stove by the end of my lease). Me and a friend cleaned my apartment but not to an obsessive degree and and I got nearly my entire deposit back. What was taken out was just municipal charges.

I’ve been living at The Domain Apartments in Madison for about a year, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. The amenities are one of the biggest highlights. The pool is definitely my favorite, it's well maintained, cleaned every morning, and includes a big grill area on the side. The fitness center is clean and has lots of different machines. I've also really enjoyed studying in the lobby, as well as the clubhouse. Both have very scenic views and is also a great place to hang out.
The staff here are very friendly and professional. All the maintenance requests I’ve submitted were taken care of super quickly, and the leasing office is always helpful with questions or concerns. Everyone goes out of their way to help, and are all very pleasant and polite.
The apartment itself is gorgeous. It has updated appliances, in-unit laundry, and beautiful polished wood floors. I’ve always felt safe and comfortable living here, and the community is quiet and respectful. I've never heard any of my neighbors and everyone is very friendly. I would definitely recommend The Domain to anyone that is considering moving here.

Special shout out to Jordan and property manager James. They always have been super helpful! We are so thankful for them and will be renting here in the future!
