This entire place is so unbelievable that I can't hardly believe it's a real place where people actually live. I schedule a tour and it's supposed to be entirely through an app. I selected a 1 bedroom unit and then the app says its actually going to be showing me a studio unit so that was just a big waste of time because I would be touring a unit thats not even the one I want. Apparently they just have one empty apartment unit they don't even rent out just so they can show it for tours. very strange and just more of an indication that this building is more like a corporate business and not really a "home" you live in but ok whatever. Im emailed/texted a message saying to just show up whenever and park in their "future resident parking area" which doesn't actually exist and it turns out their leasing agent texting with me is actually just an AI and not a real person. I only found this out after I told it there was no such thing as a "future resident parking" area and it told me (pretending to be a person) that someone was working on getting this sorted out (which was a lie because this was just a robot pretending to be a person and it can't actually do anything). wasted an hour of time before I ask it why its been an entire hour and no follow up and it finally says its an AI that isn't actually able to do anything. worst customer service ever. so I pay $20 for event parking nearby and walk in but the code given to me in the app doesnt work to open the door. I type it in right and it just...doesnt work. eventually I call someone who is actually a real person who says to come back tomorrow. so I do. I pay for parking again and the code still doesnt work. then I see a DoorDash driver just walk in and then I walk in so it turns out the doors dont even lock anyway so what was the point. I do my tour. the unit kind of sucks. has construction markings still on the bare ceiling? all the finishings are cheap plastic and particleboard. but it is new I guess. I want to sign a lease for a 2 bedroom unit for myself but im told they lease per bedroom so Id have to sign two leases. just totally ridiculous. nothing about this place is normal at all. just let me have a lease for my unit without making it all stupid and separated like how are these people even real honestly it was probably another AI texting me because I dont think this company employs real people. their lease runs august 20 through july 26 so that means if you don't renew your lease 3 weeks after you move in, you pay for an entire month of rent (which is actually 2 months since you need two leases to live here apparently) but you only live there for 5-6 days. why would they do this? its obvious. no one wants to live here so they have to scam their residents into renewing otherwise they'll be homeless for an entire month awkwardly positioned during the most inconvenient part of the normal madison lease cycle. I go online to look into their prices more today and realize the price for their units isnt even the real price and theres a billion "add ons" you have to add up to get the real price. these include the obvious ones like none of the utilities being included but then they charge you fees for living on a higher floor (just include that in the rent price instead of hiding it???) and a $25 fee to apply, a $150 "administrative fee" (bogus fee) and a one time $80 fee for like getting utilities set up. then theres a $55 per month fee for having a bathroom in your bedroom??? just include that in the rent price like what? then theres extra fees for having a balcony and even more fees for having windows in your apartment. these are all per leaseholder and since I would have needed 2 leases to lease the entire unit I wanted which comes out to about $800 in fees up front and then a few hundred of which is recurring each month. This is excluding the fees that are obvious and make sense like pent rent and parking but in what world do you pay a fee to have windows? a balcony surcharge should just be shown up front in the base rent, same with en suite bathroom.

Love living at chapter! They have a great gym, tons of events for residents, and a beautiful view from the 10th floor deck. Would definitely recommend for students as it’s only a short walk from classes.
