I thank God every day that we left this disgusting areaš There was a discrimination against Arab people. Iām not the only neighbor who had complaints but neglected. And The office did not even pay any attention to what was happening because of our situation and they only wanted to collect money. . It was a year to live, but I felt like a thousand years of suffocationš¤¢. I wish I had not lived there for even a minute. Rude and annoying neighbors day and nightš¤¦āāļø. Our apartment was on the ground floor, number #3031, and our neighbors were a girl on the top floor. She is very rude as if she is the only one who lives thereš. Can you imagine how you feel when you wake up at 5 in the morning because of their disturbanceš”!! And can you know how we feel when we cannot sleep until 2 a.m. because of their disturbance as well!! Only my husband and I would enter the house at 8 p.m. because the rest of our time was at work. We had the right to rest at night and sleep peacefully, but we did not even get to sleep peacefully because of them. I told my neighbor with kindness and love that we were being disturbed by them, but she behaved very rudely and made the disturbance more and more. I had no solution. So I complained to the office about them, but they did not do anything at all. The house is not conducive to living in, two small bedrooms and a small bathroom and a half for an expensive rent!! In addition, you have to pay for the gym and car garage monthly!! In return, we found a house with the same rent, but with a large area, two large rooms and two full bathrooms, a large garden, a car garage inside the house, a swimming pool and a free gym. The neighbors are very nice and the office owners are very nice.š“

This is my detailed review of my time here since Spring 2021 to Fall 2023: The long story short is that this place cares for its tenants, and it's very commendable how fast their response times are compared to other places.
When I first moved in, the closet was broken; it took something like half a year before it was finally fixed, due to the supply shortage. Some electrical outlets also didn't work, and one kitchen drawer would not pull out easily because of either damaged or missing parts. The thermostat needed new batteries. There was still hair left from the previous tenant in the bathroom sink's drawer. Multiple garage remotes died and needed replacing due to problems beyond just their batteries.
However, their maintenance workers took care of literally all of these matters over time. On more than one occasion, I accidentally closed the garage with the remote still in it (since there is no separate entry door), yet they helped me at no cost as it was during business hours; not all places offer free garage lockout support, even during biz hours. Most impressively, I accidentally damaged my own toilet's water tank entirely due to my own clumsiness when trying to reset the tank lid, but the generous staff (at the time, I believe Mashyllia and Anne) replaced it, free of charge. This was a VERY positive response from the management that cemented my trust.
As a warning, the place has had its fair share of bugs. I have found centipedes more-than-monthly throughout the summer, and a couple of times, a bee and a hornet entered through the heating vents in Fall and Spring. The office provides free bug traps upon request.
There have only been a few times when they did not answer the phone, and the staff are usually quick to get back to you. They try to instill community through an online message board, which is very commendable. At one point, they even took a poll among their residents regarding towing procedures for cars. How many places will bother to do that?
Unfortunately, the place experienced probably about a dozen car thefts or break-ins from what I gathered on the message boards and their announcements over the 2½ years that I stayed there. This is certainly not their fault, as this location borders southside MKE, and we all know what crime is like here. But aside from that, I felt generally safe here (I never actually saw/heard any of the break-ins myself).
Considering how other apartments charge you more for various services and how some even prohibit you from duplicating your own keys, American Colony is quite reasonable. My one general concern is that I think they don't have enough maintenance staff, but their generosity with what-was-100%-my mistake has solidly earned my trust that this is a place worth living at, plus them refunding my full security deposit (sure busted my butt to get it back, though!).
I appreciate the rapid response to everything and if it wasn't for the price, lack of studio sizes, and my work location, I might still be living hereābut I review based on their service, not the apartment cost. It's also within walking distance to Festival Foods' Greenfield location, 10 minutes away from the MKE airport, and close to one of the cheapest gas stations in the area: the BP on Layton. Your address is also an actual house number without an apartment number (even though it's an apt.)!
