Terrible experience, bad communication, the house was not in move in condition, and to this day still have issues.
First, like others have stated, you'll be told no one is ahead of you, then you apply right away and suddenly thats not longer the case.
After losing out on our desired property, we settled for another one as the application and fee's were tiring.
During a tour of the house, the person showing me the house told me it had AC, and even walked me over to the thermostat.
Now as the heat is starting, and we thought the AC needed repaired, I've been told there is no AC and "they never advertised it" even though they told me it did to my face. They have no desire to make up for this error.
The house had black mold in the master bathroom, and a shower door that anyone larger than a small child would fit through, amongst another handful of other issues in the house, including a front door that didn't work.
They asked me for a new ESA letter after we already moved in, I did what was asked of me by their pet-screening company of choice. Exactly how it was asked. Now magically, this isn't good enough either (even though I did what was asked). I am meeting with my therapist to have yet a 3rd one made, to again, the way they are asking, but I have 0 doubt that after this one is don't, it suddenly won't be good enough.
They had us locked out of being able to pay online for weeks, and then sent us notices of potential late fees over a missing 70 cents(!!!) that I gladly would've paid right away, if they would have let us use the online portal. This took over a week to resolve.
To this day, their lock box they used to delivery the house keys, etc, is still locked on our front door.
Least not forget, the most expensive move in fee I've ever seen in life ($500 just in extra fees).
If you're considering applying/renting with Dove, don't, move on. Save yourself the headache.
You'll see their same copy paste response on all their bad reviews asking people to reach out, but they aren't interested in making anything right, just trying to shift the blame off themselves.
Great to deal with on move in, however once you're in the house things change. Upon move out it's clear that they either don't have due process to help and protect their tenants from owners, or act professionally and fairly to both parties. They have your deposit and they feel they're in control. Even with a very thorough and detailed pre-walk form, either the owner or Dove changes the language used to play "gotcha" and keep hundreds or even thousands of dollars to fix their home regardless of your diligence and hard work. If anything, we improved the property we lived in while there, in numerous areas, as we always do in a rental, and they ignored that as well. I had a bad experience and saw no value in working with a property manager as opposed to working directly with a homeowner where you can have a direct relationship and good conversation. Don't believe the marketing and smiles, this is a shield for protecting a lazy or dishonest owner, and they're okay with it as long as they make their money as well.
