We have had a very disappointing experience with customer service and the overall quality of our home. Hanley’s Construction Company, had one of their certified inspectors evaluate our roof. The inspection revealed that the underlayment is missing and that the shingles were nailed incorrectly. We also received written confirmation from the shingle manufacturer verifying that the roof was improperly installed. Both of these issues will significantly shorten the lifespan of the roof. When we contacted Clayton Homes to address these concerns, they were unwilling to assist and insisted that the findings were incorrect, despite the professional documentation we provided. More recently, we discovered that every window in the living space was also installed incorrectly, with no flashing added. This came to light after we noticed water damage to the trim boards and drywall inside the home. This home was built in 2021 and was not placed on our property until 2024. To encounter such serious construction issues in what is essentially a new home is extremely disheartening. We are deeply disappointed not only in the quality of workmanship, but also in the lack of support and accountability from Clayton Homes.

As a Real Estate agent that was referred to Clayton Homes for their great build quality. I have to say that the customer service and set up process was less than adequate for my clients or for their new buyers! In the negotiation it was stated that they were the experts in set up, planning, and placement of the home. That was NOT the experience! Communication was lacking, people who do this all the time made major errors and had no idea what was going on! Now they are getting no where with home warranty issues and keep getting the run around every person they talk to sends them another direction or says the warranty wasn’t in their name and non-transferable. Which was supposed to be handled upon closing! I have emails stating as such. THIS IS RIDICULOUS and I will not be sending any other clients to them to use. When someone buys a home and their dream, we in this industry need to provide customer service to them to ensure they are satisfied!

Contingency budget (we were told almost never used) used up before build ever started (bad permitting quotes even though they verified permitting cost). Couldn’t find well logs held job up for month + by time I was told what was actually needed took me (I’m not a well guy) 3 hrs to find online I called the well guy they hired to do flow tests and static water level tests he had the info weeks earlier. Pit set wasn’t dug to 18” which was what they said was typical height from highest point of native grade not even close. Cmu blocks sitting on backfill material (non compacted) cmu blocks not grouted fully thru joints so will just crack out first heavy freeze, cmu blocks not cleaned or waterproofed (cmu clock is porus and absorbs water)as they are gonna bury it, painters smoking weed inside of house (not visually seen but went to warn of loose dog and house smelt of it) electricians failed to pull permits until I asked for permit number owner of company raced off and pulled one hr later, burial depth isn’t legal still working with Lni on this one! Be careful doing business with these guys unless you’re doing all your own ground work! Their own concrete truck for slab cracked apron for driveway (they prepped and poured) that still has the 4” conduit I put in for my temp driveway less than 2” below bottom of asphalt (black corrugated pvc) (they are fixing this under warranty but still never should’ve been a issue). Tried burying huge pile of concrete (I’m sure still planning to when digging septic just waiting for us to not be here). Joseph from clayton homes I’ll never trust a word out of his mouth again (good salesman with no follow through), Lorenzo has seemed honest and legit best he can be while being steered by a questionable general contracting company!Reason we went Clayton homes is they had own in-house land prep guys, that was a mistake!!! Some factors outside “our control” (owner supposedly) hire qualified people seems in your control, yes alittle more expensive to consumer but done right and legal!

We ended up not buying from Clayton, but I had to shout out Joseph Vaughn for being absolutely amazing to work with on our 4 month journey! He was attentive, patient, and genuinely cared about helping us through every step of the process. Joseph has that perfect mix of professionalism and warmth. The kind of person who makes something as big as home shopping feel easy and enjoyable. I’m genuinely grateful we crossed paths with Joseph. If you’re shopping for a manufactured home, go see him. The vibe is immaculate🔥

My mom bought a home from these people. It is very depressing to listen to her after the traumatic event they’ve suffered through. They lost their house this summer from a fire. I was at work when she called me and told me her house was burning. I was so curious but confused. I asked, “Is it burning because it’s so hot since you’re in Arizona? Or is it burning because it’s on fire?” That was exactly what I said. She told me it was on fire and that she had all the animals inside, but the kids were out. After that, she told me she had insurance, and she was at least excited that they would have help getting their house up and running again. She’s taken in kids from my sister who hasn’t been able to care for them. My mom has adopted all of them. She’s in her sixties and doesn’t have very good knees. My dad is also in his sixties, heavily dependent on a biPAP machine, and struggling with COPD. They’re raising these kids with everything they have, even after their home burned down at the beginning of June 2025. They’ve done everything they could. They have insurance. They paid for the home, and it was delivered to the property, but it’s taken so long for them to even get into it. These people are so uncommunicative, it’s ridiculous. When they were selling them the home, instead of being honest that they couldn’t get it set up in an appropriate time, they should have told them to look elsewhere for something timely. Right now, they’re showering using a hose that they turned into a makeshift shower they built by the school — because the kids are all under the age of fourteen, and it’s starting to get cold as fall sets in. What they don’t understand is that people who’ve lived through trauma are already in survival mode. Losing a home only exacerbates that trauma. Instead of seeing dollar signs, they should see humans. It’s ridiculous — and I’m ashamed of Clayton Homes because of this.t
