  Ok, I am writing a long review because of how great this guy is....so here goes... There is no perfect house, especially in this market, but Jay Caputo with Brushstroke Properties somehow found us our dream home. My husband and I had interviewed several realtors and were most impressed with Jay. He was honest and to the point from the start which we appreciated as one needs that in this vicious market. Going beyond our budget especially for a property that did not meet our needs would have placed us in a situation that resulted in us spending far too much in renovations or needing to move again in a relatively short time period. Jay guided us while giving us needed reality checks so we did not become so caught up in the emotional whirlwind of dreaming and bidding that we ended up with buyer’s remorse. He did however always let us come to our own decision while lending his expertise. Compared to other realtors on walk-throughs, Jay would point out in far more detail and quantity those items that would result in renovation costs, but also what we could do to add value to the home over time. He was able to assess the external factors (e.g. schools or utility locations, noise levels, etc) and specific neighborhood trends to give us an accurate value of the home both in the immediate and long term rather than the list price. This let us know he was looking not to make a quick commission but thinking long term of our family’s future. Jay knew the area so incredibly well and this was reflected in his ability to find a home tucked away in a hidden neighborhood where homes do not become available and during a time when we would see homes listed as “coming soon” that were snatched up before they even hit the market. His connections and long term relationships to other realtors certainly helped in our bidding and negotiations, to the point where we paid closer to the home’s actual value in an environment where homes are selling for far above and even were able to obtain a home inspection which is virtually unheard of these days. Jay's best quality is his interest in building a great long term client realtor relationship. While we gave him a needs and wants list he got to know each of us beyond this and picked up on (through our walk throughs and conversations) what would truly make us happy with a home. He then magically found it in one house and found one that miraculously my husband and I both agreed on. I do not see us spending just a few years in our new home. Every day I fall in love with it more and more and can’t imagine being anywhere else. I see years of birthday dinners in our cozy dining room, movie nights on the screened in porch, hot chocolate and game nights next to the fireplace, playing tag with the dog around our wooded back yard, block parties in a neighborhood where kids still play and bike in the streets and yes actually trick or treat, and so much more. We have the reassurance that lets us sleep at night that we have found a safe quiet corner in an increasingly tumultuous world to raise our family and create a lifetime of memories. If we one day are searching for another home I know who we will be calling but I’m not sure that we’ll ever move so I hope and know that he will keep helping other families like us find what they are looking for.

  Jay helped us with selling our condo in Arlington and with buying our new house. The condo sold almost immediately and he guided us through putting in an offer that was accepted before the sellers had an open house (avoiding a bidding war). Great experience throughout, highly recommend working with Jay.
