*Update: I would like to share an update regarding my previous review and express my gratitude to Ezra for taking the time to reach out to me. After voicing my concerns, Ezra not only listened but also offered solutions that made me feel a lot better about my experience at the community. I greatly appreciate the phone call and the sincere willingness to help.
I have lived at Highgate for about four years and can honestly say that my experience has been pleasurable—until recently. The location and proximity to surrounding areas are excellent, which is the primary reason I continue to renew my lease. The first-floor lobby area of the building is very nice and well-maintained. However, I feel the rest of the building has been declining. The hallways, carpeting, walls, and doors on all floors have deteriorated over the years and are not well maintained. The trash rooms can be quite unpleasant at times, especially on weekends, overflowing with garbage. Additionally, the elevators and garage doors are frequently out of service, with repairs sometimes taking months. The package situation is a disorganized mess, with no improvements in sight. Packages are often scattered in the lobby, mail room, and overflow room, making it easy for anyone to steal them. When a package is delivered, you can only hope you’ll be able to find it. Despite these issues, I still love the building and the surrounding area.
Unfortunately, I have been very disappointed with the new leasing and management staff (the primary reason for the 2 stars), who seem petty and more interested in penalizing residents than helping them. During my four years here, I had excellent experiences with the previous leasing staff and Theresa, the property manager. Anytime I had an issue or needed to transfer to a bigger unit, the responses and process were seamless. Recently, I disputed a $10 monthly renters' insurance charge that had been on my account since July. Ultimately, management chose not to refund me any of the charges, even after I provided evidence that I have maintained my own renters' insurance throughout my time at Highgate. Honestly, the $10 monthly charge doesn’t bother me as much as the apparent lack of customer appreciation and their unwillingness to work with me. It has definitely left a bad taste in my mouth to see how much effort was wasted on contesting just $10. Although I recently chose to renew my lease primarily for the location, I doubt I will continue to renew in the future. This experience has definitely tainted my desire to live here and recommend this building to others.
MULTIPLE CARS STOLEN FROM THE THIS PROPERTY AND MANAGEMENT REFUSES TO HAND OVER THE SECURITY FOOTAGE FROM THEIR CAMERAS IN THE GARAGE BASED ON WHAT I'VE HEARD. DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A RUMOR FROM MULTIPLE RESIDENTS I"VE ENCOUNTERED THAT I CANNOT SUBSTANTIATE PERSONALLY, BUT PROCEED WITH YOUR OWN JUDGMENT. ONE OF THESE EXAMPLES WAS SOMEONE WHOSE CAR WAS STOLEN FROM THE GARAGE, AND THE MANAGEMENT REFUSED TO HAND OVER THE SECURITY FOOTAGE BASED ON WHAT THE RESIDENT TOLD ME.
Worst place I have ever lived in. Noise was constant day and night. You will smell weed everywhere and everyday in the hallways, elevators and even seeping into your apartment. People are high around you all the time and it’s not uncommon for strangers “under the influence” to knock on your door at random hours. The fire alarm goes off at least five times a day EVERYDAY specifically at night. When I lived here, I could hear people through the walls and their footsteps above me like i was living in a paper box. There was no receptionist 24/7 and the front desk employees are friendly only at move-in. After that, their attitude changes completely. Past 5 PM, no one is there to help you with anything and anyone can enter the building.
Now let’s talk about packages. Packages are never delivered to your door. They’re thrown outside the building or left on the floor and often get stolen. Packages get stolen regularly and management does absolutely nothing about it. They ignore emails and never respond or take action. Management is terrible and keeps getting worse and worse. There is zero accountability, zero safety, and zero peace of mind here.
Do yourself a favor and AVOID this place at all costs. You can definitely find something better in Tysons, it just won’t be Highgate at the Mile unless you want the balcony above you to crash down on your head because the balconies here are a real safety hazard also. DO NOT MOVE HERE even if they offer you a year for free.
I wish Google Maps would allow posting a review without giving even one star. Disgusting.

Showed up for a 10:30 am guided tour. No one working the front desk. Waited 15 minutes, still nothing. Called the phone number, someone off-site answered and said they would send a “priority message” to someone working. Waited 15 more minutes, no one showed up. The whole time there was a man in a suit sitting at a desk in a locked glass office, but he paid no attention. Either they’re paying a concierge who doesn’t show up or they’re allowing tours to be scheduled on off hours. Either way, weird situation and a waste of our time. I have to give a bad review based on that experience.

The front desk girl was very unfriendly, she wasn’t helpful at all. And building has some weird elevators with no signs that leads you to the lobby! Management could do better than this!
