- JBJames BonnerSep 4, 20231.0NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE WITH GARDENS OF STAFFORD! I had a terrible experience with the manager of the elderly living apartments the Gardens of Stafford. I needed to move my elderly mother from another state to be close to us in Stafford so we could take care of her. We decided on the Gardens of Stafford and as we were going through the rental process, we quickly realized how Unorganized and Incompetent the management was. They required numerous documents for my elderly mother to include financial records, social security statements, bank records, mortgage statements, investment statements etc.… Normally it would not be a problem to obtain the records, however my elderly mother lives out of state, and she was not capable of retrieving the records herself. The apartment manager advised us what documents that were needed, and we traveled to Florida to retrieve the documents. After the first trip we were advised by the apartment manager we needed additional financial statements from social security. So, we made a second trip down to retrieve more documents, armed with everything they told us they required, we were once again told we needed even more additional documents that were never previously mentioned to us. We had to make numerous trips with all expenses included to retrieve the required documents, had they known what they were doing they might have provided a list of all required documents to future renters. They also delayed my elderly mother's move tremendously! They kept our deposit, and we were not allowed to collect my mother's private financial documents. Only a copy. After this horrible experience with the apartment management, I would caution anyone thinking about placing an elderly family member in this facility.
