I recently had an interaction with a representative named Felicia, and I was very disappointed with the way the call was handled. She came across as rude and dismissive, and instead of assisting with the situation, her tone and attitude made the experience much more frustrating. This kind of customer service is unacceptable, and I hope this issue can be addressed so that future interactions are more respectful and helpful.

I STRONGLY recommend against renting with the Lafayette. My husband and I lived here for three months, and our experience was, on the whole, terrible. Most spaces in the building- except the main lobby- were absolutely filthy. The elevators and hallways constantly smelled of vomit, weed, and urine. The parking lot flooded nearly every day. The unit was filthy when we moved in (every cabinet in the kitchen sticky inside, cat litter in the corners of rooms, hair that wasn’t ours coming UP from the drain during every shower, a pervasive smell of cat urine in the bathroom). But the most serious issue was with the HVAC system. The AC units were broken upon move-in, and despite being “fixed” repeatedly, continued to fail on and off for three months while we continued to be charged steep utilities. This resulted in unbearable humidity, paint falling off the ceiling in literal chunks, and eventually mold growth in every single room of the apartment which was not properly dealt with and destroyed a significant amount of our property. Other tenants reported similar things. Mold was also left to grow untreated for several weeks in many of the common spaces. On the occasions when maintenance came in to open up and “fix” the AC units, years of dust, paint, drywall, and filth were clearly visible collecting inside. And on multiple occasions, other tenants created a hostile environment by throwing entire pieces of furniture off their balcony or by harassing us as we were taking trash to the dumpsters. The Lafayette’s only redeeming quality was its friendly management and maintenance team. Unfortunately, that was not enough to overcome the deplorable living conditions.

I have lived at The Lafayette since 1993 and have never written a review, but I would be remiss if I didn't write one about The Lafayette's current staff. Everyone on staff here, from Felicia and Kyla in the office to Walter and his maintenance crew are friendly, caring people. They ALWAYS say hello when passing residents in the hallways or elevators. The thing that impresses me the most is that residents are constantly receiving updates and reminders of upcoming events, both social and maintenance, that impact us. Not only do they tell you when but why things are being done. That welcomed transparency is greatly appreciated. When you live in any apartment buildings you will experience issues with other residents, grounds and the building itself. The management of this building holds residents responsible for their actions to ensure that the majority of the tenants are able to live in a safe and carefree environment. I feel that the rent is fair for where I live especially with all the amenities offered. I can't imagine living anyplace else and I intend to keep The Lafayette my home for years to come.

Pets allowed, elevator, by the water, parking, decent interior quality, pleasant exterior building appearance. The higher floors are the way to go, for the view.
