  Frequently don’t communicate about building service closures (elevators being down, trash chutes being inaccessible), runs only heating OR air and never actually adjusts to the weather outside (have fun baking in 80+ degree heat waves in March and April), and will threaten to evict you inside a week over a couple hundred dollars when THEIR payment system won’t update in a timely manner to add those extra payments. Find somewhere better to live, this place sucks.

  My experiences hasn’t been the best. The walls are thin and most of the neighbors are 30 and under so dont expect a quiet community where people go to bed at a decent hour but, yet, stay up all night clunking around. Also, there’s a squatter living in the business center. I mentioned it to the apartment manager and nothing has been done about it yet. Due to my loud neighbors I typically like to study down there but it’s a super awkward study ennvironment having a vagrant sleeping on the couch while the room smells like armpits with crumbs everywhere. This place is not at all what the reviews may make it seem.

  We lived here for four years. We moved out so we could relocate to a different state. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Rental prices are generated at the corporate office and fluctuate dependent on capacity and local trends. This means there are times you can get a really good deal. ON our first two anniversaries our rent increases only by $30/month. The last year anniversary we elected to move to a large apartment due to a marked increase in our 1 bedroom rent, so for an additional $100/month we took a 2 bed, 2 bath with exceptional views. (Unfortunately there is no break for being a current tenant when moving to a different apt so we had to pay all fees again just like anyone who moves in). No crime. We did not experience any crime while there. We did not hear of anyone having any theft or violence. Our car was not vandalized. It’s a safe area. Office staff. Rental agents tend to turn over every year or so but that did not cause any major issues. The manager and assistant manager have not changed. The management team was open to all of my concerns and responded professionally, quickly and appropriately. The only dark mark in my time there was the laundry room consistently did not have a full back of working machines. At the end of last year a new vendor was contracted and after a few kinks were worked out the past 2-3 months the laundry had had no issues. Maintenance Staff. I cannot say enough about how well maintenance is ran at this location. The systems that are in place allow for fast response, efficient work. We had a water leak on a Saturday night and the on call guy was up in 30 min and replaced the garbage disposal that was causing the problem. A special shout out to Ben in this department. So intelligent, so helpful, so quick, he went above and beyond for us on more than one occasion. He is such an asset to the team. BEST THINGS: 1. Ben the maintenance guy and the maintenance experience 2. 95%of the time I heard nothing from a neighbor. The rooms are very well isolated from noise. 3. Location: 8 min to Shirlington. 3 min to Del Ray’s Mt Vernon Ave. 4. No bugs, no critters. If we were to move back to DMV area, this would be the first place I would look to rent.

  I love the Aspen Apartments. I moved here in 2014 and this is still a wonderful place to live 12 years later. The management and staff are delightful. This is home, it is in a very good location, and well kept - very nice and clean. They care about you here.
