Where do I even begin?
The Door Dilemma of 2024 (ongoing):
Shortly after moving into my unit here two years ago, we noticed the exterior door to our balcony did not seal properly, and allowed wind and cold air into our apartment (very noisy and very inefficient for air conditioning and heat to run.) Once we put in a maintenance request, maintenance came and further damaged our door so that it was permanently open about one inch, which they kindly sealed with painters tape for us. We waited weeks and weeks for management to get in contact with the vendor of the door, and eventually the entire door was replaced. After that whole ordeal, the new door is just as bad, if not worse, and during windy days we have to seal it with cardboard so we can hear ourselves think over the sound of the wind whistling into our unit. When we mentioned the added costs to heating and cooling to the then-manager, he insisted temperature did not work that way (??).
The broken elevator (ongoing):
There are three elevators in the lobby of this building. One has been down since January. Management seems totally unconcerned. I guess we have a decorative elevator now. Maybe that's why rent increased.
The fire alarm (recurring issue):
There have been multiple occasions where the building fire alarm announces we must evacuate, only for us to receive an email from management that this is not a fire and we do not need to evacuate. There was also an occasion after the office closed where the fire alarm went off, and after investigating we determined this was another false alarm, even though no management was on site to notify us. Is asking for a working fire alarm really too much?
Axton Madison sold my data to an AI company (ongoing):
This community has contracted a third party AI to replace conversations between residents and real people. I received terms and conditions, after the fact, notifying me that information such as my SSN was available to this third-party company. I did not ask Axton to share this information, and I did not consent at the time. I suppose they hid a stipulation in the lease.
"Amenities":
If you heard we have a vending machine, that is not true. If you heard we have a hot tub, that is kind of true as long as you don't actually want it to be hot and they aren't currently doing maintenance on it.
General management issues:
I get an email from an employee about once every two weeks that says I am "going to lose my bed space if I don't renew my lease right now." Except I have renewed my lease, and they just like to threaten me with homelessness for fun.
I could keep going but I'll stop here. Many of these issues are surely prevalent at similarly-priced apartments, but I would be remiss not to share my experiences here. Overall, I feel it comes down to lack of accountability from management. As long as I'm paying my rent, why would they need to fix the third elevator?
