Loved my time at Napoleon. Great staff and leasing agents. Amenities are great! Rooftop has great views of downtown & tacoma dome, pool table, and great little hangout area to watch basketball. Stayed in a corner unit, love the big windows and keyless entry pad. W/D work GREAT for a rental. Only thing with big windows is when summer comes, invest in an A/C unit 100%

Cindy, the property manager or leasing agent, was fantastic during the tour and is a very nice person, the facility is amazing, but they bait and switch you with the prices on the units. Took time off work to tour the entire building and unit, discussed price and began the application just to find the unit was $120 more than we discussed and when asked about it, they say "The owner changed the price after you left." If this is how they treat potential residents I would be concerned living here.

I lived at the Napoleon for 4 years. Pros: My actual unit I did like. Fairly quiet from the street noise, as well as neighbors. One year the person above me seemed to stomp around a lot, and it was a bit annoying but the rest were not bad. Didn't hear noise from adjacent units. They have convenient spots for hooking up portable AC units. The internet options were really good, Centurylink/Quantum fiber was 70$ a month for fiber (1000 up/1000 down). They actually gave me my security deposit back when I moved out. Cons: The management staff changed very frequently, and they got worse over time. The first 2 years or so I liked them, had zero issues. The people that were in charge when I left, however, were incompetent. They didn't respond to any of my emails for trying to get my ledger for my new apartment and when I finally ran into one of the management people at her desk one day she was told me "We don't check that email". Why do you put it on your business card on your front desk then? I had major problems with the lock on my door the last year. It needs to either be replaced or repaired, but the Maintenance refused to do so. The locks are battery powered. You type in the code and spin the lock, but it doesn't unlock. It would regularly take several tries for it to finally open. The worse time it happened, it literally took over 10 minutes straight of trying to unlock the door before it would finally open. Every single time I told the management or maintenance people about this issue, they would just tell me to change the battery. It was not a problem with the battery. Maintenance changed it a couple times, when they would finally get around to doing so, or I would change it, but it never fixed the problem. This was not an isolated issue, multiple other people in the building had the same experience as I did. The newer Management also messed up billing sometimes. In the last year, they would sometimes undercharge me and then complain that I wasn't paying the full bill. They also somehow broke everybody's key fob so that you couldn't use it to open the doors and they had to reprogram them for everyone which was really annoying. The garbage chute was regularly broken. I think it was probably broken more often than it was functioning in my time there. For a while, the front door just didn't work. You could not open it and had to use an alternate entrance on the backside of the building. Parts of the 6th floor smells like pee all the time from the dog potty spot, so I would not live near there. The garage is not as secure as it may seem. Break-ins were not uncommon and several motorcycles were stolen from the garage over the years. In response, they would hire a security guard for a few days who would sit in the garage in his car, where he would take a nap. Overall, I liked my unit aside from the malfunctioning lock. However, the Management and Maintenance were very frustrating and most of the reason why I decided to leave. Having a functional lock on the door to your apartment should be a bare minimum expectation. Also, you should know that they bribed residents for good reviews. Offered $50 off rent for a month.

I live here because I go to uw nearby. I work hard to afford rent here and pay $1500 a month and obviously the other residents assume you must be 50 years old and can only be white to live here 😐 multiple times, older residents have come up to me alone, or when I’m with my friends asking for private information to prove i live here. A man even followed me to my apartment and forced me to put in my code because I was locked out and the call code thing they “claim” works to get in didn’t work. I even showed him my rent statements and he STILL FOLLOWED ME. I shouldn’t have to tell people my room number just because people are assholes. I understand they’re working with new management now but they’re not giving out any new fobs ? My partner has been on the lease for 3 months and they’ve yet to reach out themselves to offer a fob and we’ve asked and it’s been new reasons every time
