I lived at The Lyric for about 14 months, and I can honestly say it was one of the best apartment living experiences I’ve had in Seattle. From day one, the property management team, especially Josh and later Chelsy, set the tone for what great resident experience should look like. They were consistently warm, responsive, and incredibly helpful anytime I had a question or needed support. The maintenance team, led by Tracy, was equally impressive. Any time something came up, they responded quickly and made sure everything was fully resolved. It gave me real peace of mind knowing things were being handled so efficiently and professionally. One of the standout qualities of The Lyric is just how quiet and comfortable it is. Despite being in a busy neighborhood, the building itself is remarkably peaceful. I rarely ever heard my neighbors. It truly felt like a calm retreat in the middle of the city. The in-unit air conditioning was another huge plus, especially during Seattle’s warmer summer days when it made a noticeable difference in comfort. The location is unbeatable. You’re right in the heart of Capitol Hill, with easy access to some of the best restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, parks, and nightlife in the city. Everything you could possibly need is just steps away. The only reason I moved was simply to experience a different neighborhood after spending about six years on Capitol Hill . In fact, if I were moving back to Capitol Hill, The Lyric would be at the very top of my list without hesitation. I would highly recommend The Lyric to anyone looking for a well-managed, quiet, and beautifully located apartment community.

    * Easy access to the light rail, busses, groceries, and all kinds of food. * Quiet rooms and low noise from Broadway. * Multiple fun activities planned for residents every month, including a regular board game night and book club. * The office staff is friendly and endlessly helpful. * Excellent maintenance staff that quickly take care of any issue. * Great views of the surrounding area. I've lived at the Lyric for eight years now, and every time my lease comes up I do my due diligence and look around, just in case. Nothing else has come close.

I've been living at the Lyric for just over two years and LOVE it! Walkable access: If you love the energy of city living, want a bunch of things to be very close by (e.g., a vet clinic, bank, post office, grocery stores, restaurants, salons, coffee shops, public library branch, Elliott Bay bookstore, Cal Anderson Park [sports and social justice gathering], Hugo House [writing, poetry, music], a even dental clinics, etc.), keep reading! Public transit: Lightrail (easy shot to SeaTac Airport via downtown, north to UW or further up to Lynnwood, or now Bellevue/Redmond to the east via downtown) and multiple busses to other local neighborhoods including Seattle Center, this is THE place to be. I have to intentionally drive my car to maintain the battery because everything is so accessible. Safety: Yeah, there are the usual city challenges of drug use and unhoused people. I've found that there are always people out and about, so I have felt safe walking my dog night and day. I see my fellow dog parents regularly and other neighbors have been friendly too. Inside the building community: In the building, the sense of community I've experienced at the Lyric has been the strongest of the dozen places I've lived in the Seattle metropolitan area over the past 26 years. Sometimes it is nice to be anonymous, and at other times it is a gift to have neighbors who enjoy spending some time together and are willing to help each other out. It started with showing up for book club. It has been wonderful to get to know some of my neighbors as we've read books and shared thoughts. We've branched out into movie (of the book) night recently. Who doesn't love an occasional shared experience of eating with and watching a good movie with others? We have a cool pet cooperative that the Lyric Management team has been very supportive of. There are cat people and dog people. It's great to have others who are willing to help out with cat or dog sitting in a pinch. As a dog mom, it is very reassuring. Did I mention there's a vet clinic downstairs? Game night: Every other Wed people are welcome to show up for board game night. (I didn't realize how much fun that would be.) People bring games and based on how many show up, we figure out what to play. It's been great to have some laughs and lighthearted fun mid-week. The management team. It was a bit rocky for a while under previous management, but I love our current team. Chelsy and Josh are awesome. They clearly CARE about doing a good job and are actively getting things done that prior managers let slide which is very reassuring as a resident who appreciates a well run operation. They care about the people living in this community and I see them working on building their team to meet the needs of running this large building to a high standard. It was a big factor in why I plan to renew. I see them go above and beyond regularly whether that's in running the building or helping us maintain a sense of community. I hope their leadership recognizes their efforts and supports their success. Building maintenance: The maintenance team, Omar, Tracy, and Drew have been top notch my whole time here. When I've put in a work order, it has been addressed very quickly with good follow-up and no mess left behind. Recently I put in a work order for my door lock battery, and I think they fixed it within 30 minutes. And, of course, there's Wes who does a great job of keeping things neat and tidy on the inside and rooftop. Oh yeah, the view... The view from the rooftop is incredible. There are plenty of tables/chairs, grills, and fire pits to have an enjoyable time. I live on the 7th floor and still have an amazing view of the Space Needle with the Sound and Olympics in the background. Basically, there are a lot of practical reasons why this is a great place to be. A building can be pretty but that matters little in comparison to having good neighbors and building management.

Lived here for four years and the start was amazing. The way our lease was terminated due to a small leak in our ceiling which we were willing to stay for repairs will always leave a horrible taste in my mouth. They provided no support and only gave moving out or moving to a new apartment mid lease at a higher rate as options. We had to fight to get our security deposit back after all of that and there was zero compassion as we were essentially kicked out of our home. Plain and simple corporate apartment that only cares about $$ not people.

If you take the time to read through the over 40 plus reviews on this property it is quite impressive any property can have over 95% positive reviews of satisfied long-term residents - many of whom probably remain residents of the property to this day. This place lends the impression that from the moment you make contact, you will feel like a valued individual and this could be the last place you’ll ever have to live, and let’s be frank - it is near impossible for businesses to offer such consistent quality customer service. My request for a tour was very swiftly responded to, and an appointment was effortlessly scheduled for the same day, how very convenient. “You’ll be the last appointment of the day so if you want to arrive early, be my guest.” I was starting to see what everyone was talking about. That is, until I did arrive early. I made my presence known and was informed that the leasing consultant was on a tour and that she would be informed when she returned and I could wait in the cozy, aesthetically pleasing lobby. Within minutes the consultant exited the elevator. There she is. Here’s my opportunity to get acquainted with the stellar experiences so many before me have purported. No. I was left sitting there for 15 minutes or so while the three very available employees talked about bonus plans and the commission structure and the young man who advised me that he would let my scheduled tour guide know I was there didn’t bother to mention that I had arrived early. Clearly, the tiniest of oversights. But, when it was revealed he was the manager, it was hard to fathom that someone at the helm of such an exalted property would miss any opportunity to secure a potential leasee, or perhaps he has much on his mind that me sitting there patiently must have just slipped his mind. “Oh, yea.” He is heard saying, “that guy is waiting for you.” Almost as if an afterthought. I do give them 5-stars, but for making it the easiest decision to walk away. If you can’t stick the landing on the front end, that speaks a very clear message that, the experiences of those who sing their praises are most likely cherry picked, and not for everyone. This may seem like an unwarranted rant, but fare not, this isn’t. If the property manager can’t even feign like he gives a damn, more power to him. Do you. If the concern isn’t how a new client feels with the simplest of engagements, well then that doesn’t bode well. It’s quite frankly the best thing to know upfront. Probably some unconscious bias or maybe worse, the idea that the property will never suffer from interested parties so if you happen to be a dismissive, possibly prejudicial emotionally unintelligent snob who pays no mind, then truly, I’ll gladly see myself out. Surely there’s someone right behind me just ready to fill the slot. Well good luck to them. Lyric can be scratched off the list. I asked for my ID without going on the tour and left post haste. Other than possibly visiting a friend or a possible hook-up on property, I have zero need to ever step inside this property ever again. Best wishes, hope your experience is better.
