  We stayed at Malloy Apartments for the last 4 years while my wife finished a UW program. If you’re looking for a place near UW, look no further! This apt complex has the best location possible: nearby restaurants, nearby link/metro station, UW just crossing the street. The staff is also great and attentive. Any issues have been resolved smoothly and in a timely manner. If we had to redo the last 4 years, Malloy Apts would be a must!

  I've only been here for about two months, but it's already been a wonderful experience that I'd like to do a little early raving about. The building is extraordinary. The property management from Cheryl and Ke'Won is professional, ever-present, and friendly. There's someone here during business hours seven days a week, which is such a comfort as a new resident who ends up with random questions about bike storage or is looking for advice about the laundry facilities. Something that really surprised me about the building is how cool it is, temperature-wise, even on hot days! I feel like this speaks to the quality of the building and the thoughtful design. It feels like revisiting a time when apartments weren't made as cheaply as possible as quickly as possible to maximize some investor's return. The other tenants here have also been so kind! I lost count of how many times a neighbor offered me help with doors, carrying something, or provided insightful advice as I was slowly getting moved in. Full disclosure: it has been a dream of mine to live here for almost 20 years. Even with those rather lofty, idealized expectations, the reality has been far better than I had imagined. If you're at all curious about this building, please do yourself a favor and check out the website, schedule a tour. When you see it in-person, I think you'll feel very quickly whether this experience is for you. I plan on updating this review once it's been a full year, and who knows! Maybe we'll already be neighbors by then!

  This ! If you are looking for a new home, run, don’t walk, to the Malloy Apartments. Directly behind The Ave, and across the street from the Burke museum, the Malloy is one of those rare places where you immediately feel at home. It starts in the wonderfully cozy lobby, with incredibly accommodating and helpful staff, and it only gets better… the apartments boast parquet floors, stained glass French doors and a vibe that is warm and welcoming. Huge windows let in lots of light and vintage whimsical touches are found throughout. Everything is well-maintained and clean. Did I mention the on-site workout space and in-building parking ? The Malloy could not be better situated for any UW affiliate or person just looking to live in the heart of the U district, and accessibility to everything you may need or want is minutes from your securely gated home. Grocery stores, restaurants, parks, recreation and culture are all within walking distance, and the famous Cherry blossoms are almost across the street. Thank you Malloy ! 🤗

  We have lived in this building from June 2021 to June 2023 (2 years –and that was enough). IF you don’t mind the following, this building is for you. Otherwise, think twice before renting this space: 1) Zero ventilation within your apartment, including the bathroom. 2) The brick building structure contains so much heat in the summer. It felt like an oven, even late at night. 3) Old toilet system: sometimes it took multiple attempts to flush down the waste, and sometimes the toilet ran 20 to 30 minutes and would not stop – the maintenance team could not figure out a way to fix it. 4) After-hour emergency number – don’t even bother. Because people who picked up the after-hour emergency number had an algorithm, and if the issue you reported did not fit their algorithm, they would not do anything. What did not match the algorithm, you may ask? That included our neighbor’s smoke alarm going off at 10 pm. The emergency number would not send anybody over to check it out, and we had to call to fire department instead. 5) Noise from both University Ave and/or 15th Ave. Car racing and ambulance noise down on 15th Ave can wake you up through the night. 6) The kitchen counter was not properly sealed, so the top drawer was unusable due to particles falling from the wood counter. We put down a $400 deposit, but we are getting less than $5 back because: 1) “Holes that were larger than normal” – even though we were told at move-in that hanging things on the wall would be considered normal wear and tear and would NOT be considered as issues of damage. The management did not stand by what we were told. 2) Even though the building needed to repair and repaint the ceiling and walls, because there was water damage from the building water issues at the beginning of our residence, and the maintenance team never repair/repaint it despite our multiple follow-ups. The wall and ceiling were overdue for a coat of paint after 2 years. We, as residents, were responsible for it. 3) Vinyl repair. The layer of vinyl the building put on the kitchen floor was a fragile material – the quality would never make past 2 years because the color changed quickly with dust. They would not stand any heavy furniture, and we could not keep them intact upon moving as a result.

  I just moved out, I'm sad to leave but needed to. The staff is great, everyone is so accommodating. The place is really close to campus and the Burke Museum. It has an overall great environment. Awesome place to live. I would recommend to anyone looking for an affordable place in the U district.
