  Since moving in here 8 months ago. Maintenance causes more problems than it cures. The Discovery Heights company, takes State Funds for low income housing and Section 8. Although the office "Team" has been difficult. The common areas are disgusting with animal excrement, fleas, and stains right as you get off the lift on my floor. It has yet to be cleaned in the 8 month's I've stayed here. Renters insurance for $500,000.00 is mandatory. The staff here treats people terribly. I talk to my neighbors. With an elderly lady that has been talked down to in front of me. They do not care about their clients. When I filled with The Better Business Buearo about how Maintenance left greasy boot marks all over my cleaned bathroom. Their "voodoo" techniques for showing the bathroom and laundry vents were in good working order. [They are not! But decided that if a single ply square of toilet paper stick to the underside, that means the fans work] The last 3 months, the heat in the unit tripled my electric bill to 400$ a month. The carpets are filthy, the cabinetry is water logged and swollen. There is mold, fleas, potato carpet bugs, etc. When I asked why maintenance didn't put booties over their work boots before entering, asked many times for them to clean up after themselves, by email, then phone, then, in person, then by email again. Nothing happened, and as a Disabled US Merchant Marine that had moved here to be close by the hospital to get aftercare from major spine surgery. I'd had enough. Discovery Heights does not care about their clients. They've been completely disrespectful to my neighbors as well. I filled with the BBB to get a response. What I got was a 10 day notice to vacate. I've never been treated with such disrespectful behavior. Retaliation for asking them to do their jobs, keep the common areas clean from pet stains, fix the ventilation so my utility bills would remain reasonable. All in all, I would never put someone I cared about that's been dealing with hospitalization here. Even being across the street from Swedish Issaquah Highlands, it's not worth paying 2600$ a month [plus utilities] All I wanted was a safe clean place to recover and attend my PT and follow up Doctors. But I feel completely taken advantage of. There is inadequate handicap parking, poor maintenance and even less courtesy from the Discovery Heights Office Staff. Run down, poorly maintained, inexcusable.

  I had a very good experience and I was impressed with the building. My biggest issue is being on the 5th floor with my 2 dogs. I was looking more towards the 3rd floor.
