I lived at Casablanca Apartment Homes in Everett for about five years, so I feel qualified to provide a balanced review based on my experience.
When I first moved in, the office staff, Olga and Cherimee, were friendly, professional, and very helpful in making my move-in process smooth. They were one of the reasons I had a positive impression of the community in the beginning.
After approximately two years, the property changed management and both Olga and Cherimee left. The new office staff, Christy and Linda, were generally helpful when assistance was needed, although I found them less welcoming and personable than the previous team.
Unfortunately, my experience declined under the current management. One incident in particular influenced my decision to move out after five years. Management entered my apartment for an inspection without what I believed to be proper notice. When I expressed concern, I was told that notice had already been provided and that the inspection would proceed immediately. Whether this was a misunderstanding or not, I felt uncomfortable and believed my privacy and personal space were not being respected.
Another ongoing concern was the frequency of apartment inspections. While I understand that inspections may be necessary for maintenance and safety purposes, the annual and semi-annual inspections felt excessive to me and contributed to a feeling that my living space was being regularly intruded upon.
During one inspection, management commented on the number of cardboard boxes and stored items in my apartment and suggested renting an external storage unit. I personally felt that, as long as the items were not creating a safety hazard or damaging the property, how I used the space I was paying for should have been left to my discretion.
I also experienced issues with marijuana smoke coming from a neighboring unit. As a non-smoker, I was concerned about the smell entering my apartment. I reported the issue to management and received acknowledgment that they were aware of the situation. A community-wide email was sent to residents, but the problem continued and I could still smell marijuana afterward.
On the positive side, Casablanca Apartment Homes generally offers some of the more affordable rental rates in the Everett and Snohomish County area. If budget is your primary concern, it may be worth considering.
However, if privacy, responsiveness to resident concerns, and overall quality of living are priorities for you, I would encourage you to carefully evaluate whether this community is the right fit. My experience ultimately led me to decide not to renew after five years.
